Over Size Rear Tires?

Recommended Posts

I got kinda bored lately speechless-smiley-004.gif and I just changed my holeshots on my 400ex to these big ass three wheeler tires that were on my old honda big red. They are really big, I think about 25's and now I got about 8 ins of clearence in the back! It looks bad ass with the back end jacked up action-smiley-047.gif

I test rode it and I think I go about 10 mph faster than I did with the hole shots but it seems like I dont have as much low end power? Would the bigger tires be harder on my clutch or transmission? Cause my clutch is about ready to go out food-smiley-013.gif

Bigger tires do take away from bottom end but you will gain top end speed. The taller tires will also make your clutch work harder. Essentially, what you are doing is changing the overall gear ratio.

That is a big jump from, say, the 20" stockers. You change the radius by about 2.5" which is about a 20% change in gear ratio.

If you want to run those tires and get the shee back to what the ratio was before you can either run a smaller front sprocket or a larger rear sprocket.
