smokin350 Posted April 6, 2004 Report Share Posted April 6, 2004 ok so i had to take off the stator cover for the first time and i noticed it was all wet and mud seemed to get in thereand all over the fly wheel and everthing else i guess it's from crossing streams and riding in the mud like i use to do but no more anyway the flywheel looks all rusted and stuff so i was gonna get a new 1 is there anything else i should check for and i guess i could advance the timing my mods are 404bigbore, mild port coolhead k&n jetted t5's stock timing stock flywheel stock carbs thanks guys just wanted to know what to do oh and i guess lighten the flywheel. vmaxup Posted April 6, 2004 Report Share Posted April 6, 2004 your flywheel will be fine just use some scotch brite pad to clean it up. If it runs ok dont worry. Just when you take the flywhell off there will be a dusty resudue on the inside of everyting. Use some brake cleaner or electrical cleaner to spray it out. Mine was the same way and still runing strong. I think the water gets in through the elctrical boot to the stator. This happens when mud clogs up the drain on top of the motor that is suposed to let the water go thru. Just leave that to the hunting quad(water).
