Temperture Gauge

Recommended Posts

This is hard to explain but I'll try anyway...

I basically used the brass T in a way to where the gauge is spliced in. Basically so it doesn't impede the flow. The way it's setup in that guide, it's going to slow the water flow because once the water hits the T it has to cut a right angle. If you keep the water flowing straight and use the bottom of the T for the gauge, everything should work better... theoretically.

Sorry if that explanation didn't make sense.

I think this looks the the best way to go. http://www.jtatv.com/mechanical%20gauge.htm

the whole turkey temp gauge looks cheap to me. If your going to put alot of money into your shee then I think its worth a good gauge. :D

Thats my 2 cents

That looks pretty good. I don't like the way it only shows temps of 100 and up. Who is going to hit 280 degrees?? I can't think of a good place to mount it off the top of my head either (unless maybe in your gas tank, but that would require a lot of cutting and sealing). All in all good looking product though. Any ideas on the price?

it is only $80 bucks. The gauge itself is only 2" and I like it mounted here

It starts at 100 but operating temp is Around 180 for mine and runs 20-210 in the woods. But that all depends on your setup.

I just can't see putting thousands into an atv and cutting corners on a gauge that could save a engine or help let you know when to stop to cool off ;)

You would pay 100 plus for a helmet, A gauge is saftey equipment for your shee :D

That is pretty overpriced for a temp gauge. It looks nice and is going to be more accurate reading from the line it uses, but that's too much $. Besaides, a gauge is a gauge. As long as it accurately reads what it's supposed to, it's done its job. A meat thermometer might appear "cheap", but it does the same thing. I hardly see paying $80 for something that I can get for $5.

$75 can buy a new set of goggles and gloves easily.

That is the prime spot for the gauge though. I'm not dissing the product, it just doesn't make sense for someone with my budget. On the other hand, if you have sunk thousands into aftermarket parts the gauge would make a nice finishing touch.

Try This

I bought a 1.5 in mech water temp gauge. I drilled a 1.5 in hole in the small flat spot between the fender and side panel. Just have to come up with a way to pipe it in. You can get a Auto meter 1.5 in gauge at NAPA. Price for the gauge was $30.00. I had to spcial order mine from NAPA. Also i sealed off the light with a rubber vaccum cap and some silicone. Don't have pics yet of install but will have soon. The only downfall of a Automotive style gauge is the probe for the gauge is like 6ft long. Hard to hide that much cable.

my idea was to use an automotive style guage and for the tee

turbocharged 4 cyl ford cars have this special tee fitting on the heater core hose

it tees for the water temp sending unit

so it has a barb on both ends and it tees to a pipe thread for the sender

found on as far as i know all turbocoupes

mustang SVO's

and merkur XR4 TI's

common fair in the junkyard i am sure
