2003bansheeman350 Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 i just got cylenders bored and i got new pistons and just put them in, my problem is that my left pipe gets hotter and smokes more thatn the right, this happend before the bore so it has nothing to do with the motor, just the carbs. Well i need to know how to set the carbs so they both give a even amount of gas to the cylender? i tried to adjust the floats and i did that 3 different times never setting them to 20-22mm like the book manual says but just to make them even and i seem to be goin no where!! someone please give me some advise quick i have a race sunday and i still have to break in this motor..... thanks in advance -kevin Quote
SDD Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Check the air screws first. Second clean the pilot jet out on the side that isn't getting as warm. Quote
@@banshee_rider@@ Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 i had the same problem. make sure that your air screw is evenly adjusted and change you spark plugs or clean them if they are new. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 yea thos guys pretty much have it, make sure one of the plugs isent running lean to, you still got that shortened swingarm? Quote
2003bansheeman350 Posted April 2, 2004 Author Report Posted April 2, 2004 yea i took out the pilot on the side it was cold and it was clogged bad, real bad. couldnt see through it at all. it runs wayy better now but it still doesnt get warm on that cylender as fast as the other does. I called my local mechanic and asked him for advise and he said dont worry about it if it runs fine!! yes it ran alot smoother after i cleaned out the pilot but i think im ganna pull both carbs again and see if i can find any more dirt. frocashmoney24 you have a pm. Banchetta Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Try syncing the carbs, its makes a big difference. Quote
2003bansheeman350 Posted April 3, 2004 Author Report Posted April 3, 2004 they are man, everything in synced, this makes noooo sense. also looking at the plugs makes me wonder too. the side that doesnt get as hot is like black and the white part liek inside the plug....forgot what its called...that stayed white when the other plug is brown!!! Banchetta Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 make sure the equalizer tube is in place between the two carbs. (2"x 1/4"). Also, check for air leaks around the carb boots...spray some wd40 on them and see if it revs, if it does then you have a leak...I everything checks out after, then do a leakdown test and see if you have an air leak between the carbs and the exhaust, find the problem or you'll just blow the motor again.....
