So I'm in the middle of doing a fairly large motor resurection and I've run into a wall. I've cleaned out the carbs and the gas tank, set the fuel stuff back up and it wouldn't fire. Checked plugs, they are wet. Checked spark... it will light up a spark tester, but if you ground the plugs on the head I can't see any spark jump! Does this sound like it may be fireing, but just not getting enough power to fire the plugs? Am I looking at a new coil, wires, caps, stator? Would there be any rusty or dirty components that may be inhibiting the spark? Help please, it is getting nice and muddy out, and I wanna play!!!!!

Try new plugs or hold the plug away from the block a little and see if it jumps from the end of the plug. If that doesn't work, check your plug boots. They can be on the wire but with a poor connection. Then check the coil connections and wiring from the stator. If it sparks a little I tend to think it's plug related.

If its been sitting for awhile could there me rust on the flywheel causing it not get enough spark??If theres rust on the outside of the flywheel (which doesn't hurt anything)more than likely its on the stator points too and inside of flywheel.. Take some sealant and fill that boot that the coil wires run through..Stops water for getting to the stator..just my thoughts
