Jetting Problem

Recommended Posts

ok heres what i have. 1000 feet above sea level. stock carbs with 27.5 pilots and 290 mains. the clip is last space from the blunt end. mild porting, toomey t-5s, v force reeds and k and n filter. its got a bogging from like 1/8 to half throttle. this is when im just rollin along steady. very bottom seems fine and it screams on top. i cant for the life of me figure out where the problem is. anyone got any suggestions??

You are lean on everything in my opinion. Especially with a port job.

I would go to 30 pilots and go up to around a 330 main to start and see how it does.

Last space from the blunt end is not right, even with stock needles.

I would run Toomey needles and put them in the 4th position from the top of the needle.

Man, this is crazy...I'm having the same problem you are loco with the same setup minus porting and I'm at sea level...Ironic cause my needle and jetting is the same!! This is weird. I plan on rejetting and playing around with different scenarios this weekend, if you don't have it fixed by then I'll share what I find...I wonder if the weather/atmosphere is what's doing this; my shee ran perfect a couple weeks ago

I agree with everyone else; it sounds like you've got the needle at the richest position, try moving the needle to the stock middle clip position and see what it does. If it still bogs you might try going one clip posision leaner for the reeds (move clip up towards the blunt end, so the second slot from the top).

BTW it's usually best to dial in one circuit at a time, so try to cure the problem at hand and then you might want to double check the mains to make sure they aren't too lean. Good luck.

Well, I can't find anything else to add to that.

Try exactly what BenBB said and you'll find harmony with the shee again. May peace be with you. :bolt:

290 mains, 27.5 pilots, clip in the middle. this worked really well, im just a little lean on the top right now.
