FoxBansheeRacing
I went out and fired up the shee for the first time since I went riding Sunday, and when I pulled the clutch in to take off I noticed that it is very stiff. I'm not sure if this happened while riding or whiling power washing it afterward. I tried adjusting it on the handlebars and sprayed WD40 on everything on the motor and it is still stiff as hell. Its almost to the point that I can barely pull it in while sitting on it. Why is it so stiff? If it matters, it was muddy the last time I rode it, but I cleaned it as soon as I got home. fixitrod
Start with a new cable. That will make a world of difference.
cb67rs1
yeah you probably rusted the cable
Banchetta
Did you slip the clutch and rev it alot before putting it away?? You could have welded the ball to the rod....
FoxBansheeRacing
What do you mean by slipping the clutch. I may have revved it once or twice but nothing major.
H300F
get oil down in the cable, until it drips out the other end
FoxBansheeRacing
Ok guys, I am totally stumped. I took the cable off the cluth perch and just had if off the side of the quad. I felt the pull and it was nice and easy. So I figured it was just because something was caught or kinked or something or oiling it loosened it up. Just to make sure I put the cable back onto the perch (the cable is long enough for it come out from the left side, rap around the right side and come back and hook back up, so the cable was outside of the quad, just going around the plastic) and it was just how it should be. So I said awesome and took it off the perch again and rapped it through the frame the way its supposed to go, hooked everything back up, pulled it, and its hard as hell again. It must be something with how its bending going through the frame or something. I dont know what to do, any ideas?
fixitrod
If the cable is rusty inside it will be harder to pull when it has a curve in it. Spend the $15 and get a cable. Start there.
Banchetta
maybe you have a broken strand close to the perch so when you pull it, it grabs the perch......shouldn't be very hard to find..you almost answer your own question...
FoxBansheeRacing
I ordered the Motion Pro Terminator clutch cable today. I bought a throttle cable for the 2:1 carb from toomey a few days and got it today, and the damn thing is about 4 inches too short. I had to order the right one from Terry Cable today so I'm waiting on that too. I really hope its just the cable that needs replacing and nothing internal, cuz now I'm broke. SDD
Sounds like the clutch push rod, ball, and throw out arm welded themselves together. Check your oil level and see if it's low.
FoxBansheeRacing
Yes, the tranny oil was not even showing up on the dipstick. What does that mean? Will the cases have to be split to fix it?
vmaxup
Im going with SDD. Whats up Nick Glamis in 7 days and the shee is running good. Puttin Paddles on Tommorrow night. And loaden up the hauler. The old welde ball to the rod to the adjuster. Crack those cases man fix it then run 2 full quarts and it wont happen again. Done this 3 times on 2 Shees not since I put a new notch on the old dip stick
FoxBansheeRacing
So how much is this going to cost to fix? I will be able to do all the labor myself but what about parts??
nater006
You won't have to crack the cases to replace clutch components. As for prices... that I can't tell you..
