Yea, jet it in right.....your too lean and can sieze the top end if your not careful....

So you're saying that they should not be blue at all? What color should they turn if any? I'm really curious to know because I've always heard that the blueing was normal and meant the jetting was correct...

Your always going to get some blueing really close to the cylinders w/ hard riding, but lean jetting makes the shee run extremely hot and will blue the pipes faster and further down the pipe...some blueing doesnt' exactly mean your lean, but doesn't hurt to double check.....A lean motor will cause excessive blueing and other colors.....

THANKS Banchetta, that is the answer I was hoping to get! :) Makes sense about the heat from the engine causing the coloring..didn't think of that :shootself: Thanks again!

you can also blue a pipe from the oil on your hands, when you put the pipe on if you dont wipe off the hand prints, when you start it up and let it warm up the oil will cause the pipes to turn blue..

I tried the high temp paint on the inside and it did not help me. I have always been told that if there not blue your not getting full potential. I've benn running with the same jetting for a year and a half with no problems.

I have also heard of painting the inside of the pipes with high temp paint, it keeps them from turning blue.

 I don't know about that one!

It has been done.

It's been done, but I wouldn't do that.Mine are golden brown about 2-3 inches down.If my pipes change from golden brown like they been for years to blue(rainbow colors) I would know somethings wrong.....

It is natural for all pipes to blue. Except ceramic coated pipes. They are not as shiney as stainless or chrome but, they wont blue. I think the frst 2-3 inches of the pipes being blue looks cool.

actually I think the blue looks cool too. The guy I bought my CPIs from said he had them coated inside to not turn blue and they are a shiney chrome all the way up to the cylinders, so it must work.
