dirtclod20
Go out today to figure out why my bike wasn't running to hot, cleaned the carb and fired it up. Sounded great but when I pulled in the clutch, there was no tension. New cable and the arm is moving. I pulled the clutch apart and don't see any problems. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Also, when replacing the clutch, do i reuse those rubber things between the plates? Thanks Marc
cb67rs1
check to make sure that the ball on the clutch rod isnt seized. also pull that arm out to see if it is damaged. i had a problem where the clutch rod ball inside the motor welded itself to the rod and the rod spun till it ate up the clutch arm, as far as the rubber peices they can be left out , they are suppose to help with clutch chatter
fixitrod
LOL, I've done that before. Two things. The most obvious is lineing up the pressure plate to the hub. There are arrows on the center hub. You have to line one of them up with the arrown on the pressure plate. That will cause it not to do anything when you let go of the clutch. The quad acts like it's in neutral. The other is make sure the rod, ball and adjuster ( on the pressure plate) are all three there. I had the adjuster fall off at the dunes. dlnoss
I'm not making fun of your spelling, but every time I see the topic title at a glance, I think it says 'More Clutch Whores' and think what the hell is that about..
dirtclod20
rod and ball are all fine and dandy, any other ideas? Also, any pics of how the kickstarted assembly go back on? Not sure where the notch goes on the shaft.
fixitrod
Is the adjuster on the pressure plate right. That has to be the trouble if the rod and ball are in there.
dirtclod20
Can the adjuster just knock itself out of adjustment overnight? I parked the quad, and came out the next day and no clutch pressure. I think leprachauns are sneaking in and messing with it.

vmaxup
Its not a mystery look how it works the cam moves the rod out pushes the ball into the adjuster wich in turn pushes the outer plate that hold the clutch plate. When it dose this it opens the clutch basket. letting the basket spin. 3 things go bad here 1 the adjuster nut came off or is out of adjustment 2 the ball rod and cam are welded 3 your clutch basket is whore out and notches in the basket are sticking the clutch plates 4 you ran it out of oil and welded plates to clutches 5 or the outer plate that hold the adjuster is on in the wrong position OK Ok I SAID 3 but I got out of control
Cotton eyed Joe
Damn LUCKY!!!!!!!! I was happy to see that it didn't get chewed up in your primary gears, or chew up your primary gears, or get sucked into the tranny oil port for that matter. erbilabuc
Had the same thing happen to me and it was low on oil, very low on oil. check your oil level
dirtclod20
Well, all the plates came apart from the next, they did seem to have some wear as evidence of the dirty oil. However, clutch rod/ball-ok, basket-ok, adjuster nut-ok. Maybe i'll put my new clutch in and all will be fine and dandy. What needs to be removed to check where the arm goes into the tranny for problems. I believe it to be ok, I can stick a screw driver in the hole to meet the ball and pull in the lever and get movement. Maybe the dirt AFT i had in there caused the clutches to stick is the only thing I can think of, that and the LEPRACHAUNS!
