trail rider
This summer if I dont find a deal on a good used banshee I'm gonna get me a little 85/100cc bike for motocross and trails and stuff. I'm am choosing between a KX 100, Rm 100, Cr 85r expert, or a yz 85. Anybody have any opinions, experience, or facts about these bikes like top speed and stuff? (I know people are gonna say "why dont you get a 125 or 250?" I dont want one cause I have rode both a 125 and 250 and they both feel just too big and tall for me.) DeuceRooster
I'd spring for an RM
trail rider
If I do get a Suzuki or Kawasaki then it will be the 100cc. I might be wrong, but does the Kawasaki have power valves too? I think its called KIPS or something. Or if I get an 85 it will probably be a Honda, since they have an 85 with bigger size wheels than the yz 85. Are honda 2 stroke bikes pretty reliable? Also, do 85/100cc bikes need a topend rebuild as often as the 125s?
trail rider
What about the suspension on these 85's? Do they bottom out easy on big jumps? I've been building some jumps on my "soon to be" motocross track and my crf 150 suspension cant hardly handle the jumps I have now. I only weigh 145lbs so I doubt that my weight would affect it much. dcmoose
all my boys around here, ride FITIES. A couple of them have the 105 kit, they move. They do all kinds of shit, like 360s, and tail whips, and all kinds of stupid shit. they have a site, but i don't know it. I will look it up and post it. They call them sselves the T.O.S. (troops of steel) they are a bunch of punks, but i like them.
trail rider
are you talking about the little xr 50's? those things are so fucking fun to ride! I didn't ride a tricked out on but I rode my cousin's stock on in his yard. But hitting pot holes is a little hard on the ass bone on one of those. I dont think I want one of the bikes with power valves. I read in this motocross mag about the kx 85 that it has no topend power and that the power valves help smooth out the power band. So it is probably between the yz 85 and the cr 85r expert (big wheel) cause I want something with a power band hit.
trail rider
I have been doing alot of reading and I have narrowed it down to either the yz 85 or the cr 85r expert. How much power does aftermarket pipes and sliencers give these little bikes? I heard of kids with 85's that have pipes and stuff beating 125s and Z 400's and 400ex's in drag races. Are these things really that quick?
bignasty1
no no little 85 is gunn kick a z400 ass i will object to any dumb shit said like that. my stock z400 would beat this little 2003 kx85 with a milled head and a fmf pipe on it. we switched with the same results dont get me wrong for as small as they are they move but they arent going to beat a z400 but i do see a 400ex being a very possible canidate for a ass whoopin. but we can put my 210 lb ass on that little bike and his little 120 lb ass on my z400 and on the street my z400 beat it by about 5-6 bike lenghts with him ridin his bike and me riding mine it ended up being about 4-5 bike legnths. why dont ya just step up to a 125? Trick2stroke
I have a YZ 85 and I beat a stock 400 ex in a drag race when my bike was stock, now I have a sst p/s v-force reeds and an air filter with air box lid removed, and this thing will haul some ass... I was bearly bottoming out the suspension on the HUGE table tops out on the track and I weigh 165 or so, its alot of fun, the pipe and stuff made a verry nice diffrence aswell... I have read many reviws on all the 85's and from what I have read the YZ is the best "overall" but I have read that the rm has more touque since it has a pv... I love my Yz 85, I have ridden the crap outa it since I got it and I got it used and its running perfect and strong.. I would recomend the yz but I haven't had any exspeirence with the other 85's...
