2004LEBanshee
Ok, I tend to forget stuff and some times when I go rideing I take a bunch of gas with me say like for a weekend. but I only mix oil in the 5 gallon that I am goin to use at that time. There are times where I have a extra 5 gallon with unmixed gas in it. After a couple of weeks I am not exactly sure If I mixed oil in it or not because I use 927 and it looks like gas. So can I put some type of dye or coloring in my mixed 5 gallon to let me know for sure which I have mixed.
Wassup350
probably wouldnt hurt as long as you dont put a ton in it.
Big Blue
not a bad idea we have some bad ass stuff here at work, not sure what it is called but it is concentrated food dye of some kind, a gallon would turn 10,000 gallons red probably. Cotton eyed Joe
Ok, I tend to forget stuff and some times when I go rideing I take a bunch of gas with me say like for a weekend. but I only mix oil in the 5 gallon that I am goin to use at that time. So can I put some type of dye or coloring in my mixed 5 gallon to let me know for sure which I have mixed. Ahh. I've been there before...not fun.. What I do now is this. Premixed fuel goes into 2 purple race jugs. Unmixed goes into 2 red "standard" gas jugs. I usually start out with all 4 full of gas, and 2 (the purple race jugs) get oil put in them right at the pump. When I mix a new batch of gas, I pour the clean gas from a red jug, into the purple jug, then add premix oil. Also, when I leave the dunes, I can take any un mixed gas and pour it in the truck and I don't have to worry about getting any premix oil in my V8. I learned this after I had 10 gallons of gas in my garage that I didn't know what it was. Either take my chances on the banshee or lawn mower. The lawn mower hated me, but at least I still have the top end in my banshee.

Cotton eyed Joe
does anyone know if u can safley run that in ur tank? You mean premix in your car? I would say no. I'm sure the premix would foul plugs, ruin oxygen sensors etc in a hurry, probably leave some nasty deposits on your valves too.
2004LEBanshee
I think I might try the food coloring. I mean what would I need a few drops per 4 gallons. I doubt it will hut it. But I also saw tags for the gas tanks in rocky mountian that can be switched back and forth for like $2. It just sucks that I just dumped out 4 gallons of premium gas and probly some premix. But oh whell I just couldnt risk it.
89Steeda
I run 927 premix in my Early Bronco all the time. Has a carb, no O2 sensor or cats. Also, I put a rubber tag that I get from work on the cans. I just write 927 premix on the tag, or I write strait race fuel on a tag for the other bikes. Tags last a year or so, then I just replace them.
evil
does anyone know if u can safley run that in ur tank? if you have a catalitic converter, no, if not it will just burn through the exhaust, we use to dump all our old mixed gas in a friends 72 chevy and hed burn it up for us. as far as cans, i just labeled them with a perminate marker. sneeky
STOP dont put food coloring in your fuel colorant is made of mostly sugar!! when you add sucrose to petrolium it turns into snot and gums up your filters and jets and can cause your rings to dig into the bores of your engine. BAD NEWS!!!

trail rider
STOP dont put food coloring in your fuel colorant is made of mostly sugar!! when you add sucrose to petrolium it turns into snot and gums up your filters and jets and can cause your rings to dig into the bores of your engine. BAD NEWS!!! ok, so lets say you take regular sugar and mix it with motor oil. Will it turn into snot and bugars and will it sneeze at you? wansomordis
does anyone know if u can safley run that in ur tank? Well I run vp C-12 in my push mower mixed with klotz.. My yard isn't very big so I don't wanna buy another jug.. smells like I'm at the races.. A little oil in the gas just acts as a lube..You don't think gas doesn't contain some oil ?????Just my 2cents 2004LEBanshee-Wrote It just sucks that I just dumped out 4 gallons of premium gas and probly some premix. But oh whell I just couldnt risk it.---- And where did you dump those 4 gallons of gas ??????On the GROUND ??????
dogboystoy
Ok, I know what sneeky is saying, but i dont think a few drops will hurt anything. and Im not sure there is sugar in food dye. you would have to read the package first. I myself, would formulate a method to prevent mixing up fuel types, like mark a gas can and adhere to your new rules.
