robinson373
After rebuilding my shee I put on a new RK 520 KZ chain that a local shop recommended. IT FRIGGIN SUCKED . After 3 or 4 weekend rides it has stretched past the point of tightening. Are these good chains? What chain would you guys recommend? Maybe not the chains fault , if I initially put to much tension on it could it have caused it to stretch faster?

banshee tuner
To much tension will stretch the chain but I have the did 520 x ring chain and it does not stretch much at all.

Timmy301
when you check the chain tension, have someone push down on the rear end, As your suspention compresses the chain will get tighter!!!! It would be best to have a little bit of slack in the chain when your rear suspention is compressed!!! Timmy301
.
your sprockets were worn differently than your new chain was. So it stretched to fit the sprockets, was to loose, then you tightened it and it had to stretch again, etc. until it wore the chain out. Gotta replace both at the same time. Nighty
yep and since sprockets are so cheap i usually use 2 sets of sprockets on 1 chain.
lincster
Do not use non O-ring. They wear too fast. I replaced only my front sprocket when I went with a DID X ring chain. 2nd dune season and it is wearing very good. Spend the money for a good chain, it will pay off in the long run. Bansheebabe350
We use RK520SO on our drag racing banshee's and it is about the best chain we have used.
Rescuejeff
Hey guys, news flash, my wife, I know that sounds werid, but works for RK/Excel here in San Diego. When the new chain is replaced all sprockets should be done too and if you replace just the chain, then you need to sit in the bike and have about 3/8 to 3/4" of up and down movement in the chain. The RK chain is one of the best, I have some predjustice towards it, DID is ok, but to check that your chain running well you must adjust it, and maybe you did not take enough links out of it when you installed it as well. The chains are not exact fit and 3-6 links need to be removed when you install. For more chain info go to FTMBiz.com They can answer questions and have a sponsorship program for racers. Jeff P.S. Please do yourself a favor and NEVER use PJ1 blue on a chain, it eats up the Orings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MotulMonsta
Spend the extra cash and go for the DID X-ring. You won't be dissapointed. The shop probly recomended the chain because it gets a good deal on them. Non-O-ring chains will wear out faster then shit on an ATV, People I know get about 1 or 2 races out of one. They only use them for the lighter weight and less drag...but that was before they found DID's X-ring chain.
