Wassup350
Definitely dont get Hewlett packard or compaq they really really suck. Look for something with about 256 megs of ram and anything over a gightz processor would be real good. 20 megabyte harddrive also so you can store a buncha stuff on it. Definitely go with xp also it's very reliable. ME 98 and 95 are all junk, Win 2000, xp home, and xp pro are good operating systems.
01BANSHEE.UK
If you want a decent/proper have one built up to how you want it dont get one of the cheapo ready built packages mentioned here.
CombatTalon2
I would definatly go for a Dell if you dont know much about computers. Get a comp with a 2+ GHz Processor, and go for 512MB ram. Get a big hard drive now, and you wont have to worry in the future. im running 180GB of hard drive space right now, and its almost not enough. make sure you are getting the 7200 RPM hard drive too! Dells are pretty good deals!
sandman121383
i went with eMachines. i got a laptop and a desktop and both run really great and smooth. the laptop came with an ATI radeon graphics card and the desktop comes with an N-Vidia G Force card. both have sharp crisp graphics and i have alot of movies and they run smooth and look great. the desktop is a t2825. got lts of goodies for a price u won't believe.cd-burner and a dvd rom so u can watch dvd's on it. 2.8 GHz processor i think. . . DDR ram i could go into real detail but u don't really need to know everything unless u want. dell's are great with great customer service from what i heard. i'd say shop around and do a little homework and decide whats best for u. shoot me a PM if u have any questions or somethin u wanna kno man. 1 more point.if ur into gaming and big on movies then a flatscreen isn't the way to go. the refresh rate isn't fast enough and graphics and pictures may lag a little. so ask about monitor options. i went with a traditional monitor instead of gettin a thin one.
