Banshee33
It limits the engine RPM if the throttle gets stuck. The problem with this deal is they almost always fail. Jet changes are also a pain the butt. Trust me get rid of it. It is real simple to do. Just make sure you get a Idle kit for it. Hope this helps.... nate1999mxz600
i disconnected the whole tors system and modded the rest of my wiring harness. wouldnt that be the same as getting that idle thing? because the tors are no longer hooked up to the harness
DIRTBIKEZ
From my understanding, you can either disconnect the TORS system (electrically) or eliminate it with a kit. The kit allows you to remove the massive carb tops and replace them with a low profile cap. Problem is that w/o these tops you cannot control the idle, so then you need to instal an idle kit. DIRTBIKEZ
does the kit come with all the instructions and does it come with the new carb tops? Any decent kit should... I'll let you know about the Vitos when it arrives this week.
Banshee33
It comes with instructions for the Idle kit. The TORS removal is self explaintory.
909
The kits come with: New throttle cable, carb tops with adjusters, and an idle kit. On the factory TORS carb tops, the idle and synch is adjusted with the screws on the top of the TORS units. The kit replaces those huge boxed with a straight standard carb top. The stock cable is now too long and needs to be replaced. The adjusters are slack adjusters/carb synch tools and not meant to adjust the idle. The idle screws will require you to drill out the locations in the carbs where they were supposed to go from the factory, and tap this hole for the threaded screws. The screws are where you set your idle from, not the carb tops. After you drill the holes, be sure to deburr the inside of the carbs so you don't get any metal in the motor. This requires you to remove the carbs for the procedure too. Its also a good time to make sure your jets are clean and there is no dirt in the float bowls. Also a great time to add an inline filter to the fuel line if you haven't done so yet.
Banshee33
Check your Float height to. Mine was off and it was brand new. 21mm from carb base (no gasket) to top of float. Easy to adust just bend it slightly if you have to.
