stu
i have pyramid racing reeds and cages on my shee and while cleaning the carbs the other day i inspected the reeds. there is a small gap between the reeds and cages, in the manual it says there should be no gap, is this just for stock reeds or is it time to invest in some new reed petals? cheers stu
bkabina
I don't think reeds should have a gap, thats any reed. But a very little gap aint bad.
banshee tuner
You don't want any gap at all. It should be hard to crank, but you can flip the reeds over and usually close the gap to keep riding while you are waiting on the new ones to ship to you. Toomey Banshee
Yup, no gap at all. Flip em and get new ones.
fixitrod
I'm betting if the gap isn't larger than the thickness of a piece of paper or so you won't notice much if any improvement by flipping them. The ideal situation is no gap, but I bet if all of us checked our reed that 90% of us have a little gap. The oil and back pressure will seal a minor gap. stu
i had that idea too!! but the gap wasn't that small hence the post here when i flipped the reeds the gap reduced but there was still a gap!! surely the cages cant be at fault as both of them are the same...??? im stuck!! cheers stu
