lov2xlr8
I am looking to buy a new quad and was wondering witch one gives the most performance in stock trim. I am looking for facts and not just opinions. Proof also would be excellent! Thanks guys!
Wassup350
The YFZ would be better in stock trim, but you could get some good pipes for a shee and a good air filter and beat a YFZ, and still pay less for the Banshee with mods. Handlingwise though the YFZ would be a lot better.

I am looking for facts and not just opinions. Proof also would be excellent! Thanks guys! id go with the yz.... you have to beef the shee to come close in dirt, two cycles are spinners and dont hook as well, beef the yz and youve got one hell of a fast agile bike.......banshees are pigs on a tight track, compared to the little quick thumpers, no one wants to admit it but for short tight tracks, that yz is a rocket.....on another note....take a 1985-CR-125, and race it againt an 04 CR-125....the guy on the 04 is laughing his ass off as your old school chassis trys to manage the shit he's walking over.....the banshee is fun...but its over......i love my banshee's, but the newer designs are taking over...... banshee370
I had the chance to ride an 04 YFZ out at Dumont... It had sand tires, Sparks exhaust (full sys) and it also had a new intake (similar to a pro-design w/ K&N filter) It flat out HAULS ass. If I had a choice I would buy the thumper. The suspension is excellent compared to the old technology of the banshee.. Dont get me wrong. I love my shee and all.. but after you sink big coin into it just to get it to handle better... the yfz will still kick its ass.. (im not talking about motor mods) In my opinion suspension mods should be the first thing done to any quad.. THEN motor/performance. The first thing I would add would be a steering stabilizer. It feels a little twitchy at high speeds and it wants to be ridden hard...
banshee04le
Sell outs. Of course the yfz is faster in stock trim. The banshee is choked down in stock form. The sound and feel of the banshee powerband is what it's all about. Get a banshee. You will have more fun riding it and tricking it out. If you don't get a banshee you'll be sorry when you are getting burned up by them.
ranshee
Tell em 04. Youll just have more fun on a shee, powerband, sound and all that. You will be a little more sore at the end of the day though.

If you don't get a banshee you'll be sorry when you are getting burned up by them. my banshee has 12 grand in motor, chassis and suspension mods plus the price of the bike, so im at about 17,500....if i gear it 15/41 and race a 450 with a pipe and top end mods, hes right next to me in a 300 footer and if i dont get the jump he smokes me......geared 17/40 i can beat him by 2-3 bike lengths in 300 feet, again if im hooking.....so to who ever has a piped shee that doesnt have a good 80 horse the piped 450 is faster, and a banshee with a pipe aint pulling a 17 no way in hell....its really easy to claim your 45 horsepowered banshee is smokin a yzf-450, but im racing them and they will completely walk from a banshee mod for mod......and Walter nor myself are sell outs, we are just calling it as we see it, rather than just claiming the the yz is a peice of shit.....and i will agree theres not a better feeling than haveing a 80+ ponied banshee rip your arms off, but truth be told the yz is a great bike, and fast as f*ck on a mx track or open desert....maybe watch some pro's race and see whos beatin who and on what

SICK BOY
I'd like to get a YFZ 450.
Toomey Banshee
Sad but true, I too would like to get a 450, but I would keep my Banshee as well. The newer designs are where its at. Two strokes are being phased out and they are actually making the new 4 strokes act alot like a two stroke, i.e. faster reving, no bogs off of starts etc. With that being said, I still love my shee but am open minded, and maybe in a year or two wind up getting a YFZ, to keep my shee company. brugal
The YFZ is no joke!I have a banshee, I LOVE MY BANSHEE but I will have a 450 for next year to add to my toy collection...
Wassup350
Jeeze id like to at least ride one, noone i know around here even has any high performance quads, and the only friend i have with one owns a banshee. Everyone else has 4x4s, the fastest 4 stroke i ever rode was a 400ex so i have no clue what the YFZ can do. I just cant imagine anything as fun as the banshee though. Wassup: The best way I can describe a YFZ is like this.... Imagine a 4stroke version of the banshee but with MUCH better suspension, more agile in the air, very well balanced, but has a ton more grunt down low. And thats stock. I would say that a 400ex to a YFZ is like a blaster to a banshee. It rev's almost like a 2 stroke and pulls like a frieght train. Dont get me wrong.. You would have to pry my banshee from my cold dead hands... But like Duece said... We've spent 17k on our shees to make them the way WE want them... Power, Suspension, looks etc. Call me a sell out, but the life is the banshee is dying fast. When was the last time Yamaha updated the banshee? The suspension has been THE SAME since 1991 (a-arms) I dont consider changing a CDI or harness plugs or a bolt here and there "updates" I love the power of my shee but only after I sunk thousands into it... I think a stock banshee is boring now, The YFZ is fun to ride and I think will hang right w/ a stock shee or even a piped one. Times are changing,, keep up or step a side. Blue Duece
thank you walt..i think we are both open minded banshee owners who have sunk thousands of dollars into our bikes ..i just love my shee's but that little 450 rocks..its just that simple...i know for a fact if i had a 450 and put 12 grand into it theres no fuckin banshee that would touch me....i mean im racing these guys .....that little bike flys....its sad but true.....a banshee is way old school technoligy..when im blowing through an 1/8 mile of whoops and a 450 passes me in them, im like "hey what the f*ck"...then we hit some straights i can real him in...but if he was pulling 80 horses hed be a ghost....and these guys on here that claim they are beating those 450's with pipes and an air cleaner are sooooo full of shit...i dont see my self as a sell out..im just a guy racing a bansee trying to place...and all im saying is that 450 is a hard bike to beat, if i race next season you'll see me riding a new yzf-450 or the new honda.....cause i dont give a flying f*ck what anyone says, on a moto track its all about placeing, not...."IM BAD IM ON A BANSHEE", its about not having your ass handed to you.....
