BansheeRider576
Banshee is old school.. its a legend.. you can go comparing a legend that was built 17 years ago to a 450 that is what a year old.... the banshee will always have more power than the 450.. the only prob with the banshee that i will admit to is traction... that is where the 450 wins... 4 strokes simply hook up better than 2 strokes... As far as handling.. screw it.. there is no fun without a challenge am i right???. 450's are to easy.. i like tha challenge of trying to keep my banshee on the track and trying to tame that screaming fun power (that no quad can ever replace)... to me its the challenge and the adrennaline rush that you get on those long straight aways that matters... not placing first in a moto... you guys can go ur ways but i will go mine... ~THE BANSHEE LIVES ON~ "i will still have my banshee even after they stop making them in fact im planing on getting another... 4 strokes jus aren't the same and will never compare to a true LEGEND"

Blue Duece
sorry Gato, Nighty, Walt, but jesus have none of these guys been to, or even watched a quad race?..walt came back from dumont after having riden a new 450 and has a beefed banshee with 17 grand in it, saying "damm that 450 rips" .....my she's got 80+ ponies, 2000 in suspension and i race it mx and desert and im riding and looseing to new 450's going " damm that 450 flys and you can hang on to it" ...were not dising our banshee's (you notice neither of ours are for sale) but fucck, the fact is the new 450 is a quick bike and can beat a banshee, if we were going for 5 mile pavment shots down the interstate, a honda civic would win, making the 450 and the shee turds, theese guys with pipes and air cleaners dont know what fast is, try almost trippling your stock horse power, and coming from a guy whos riding a goddamm fast banshee that 450 is a nice clean tight bike, with some cash and some balls youd be hard as fucck to catch..... Since you know way more about raceing then me and I have never raced one (YFZ that is). Are you serious about saying that I would need about 80 HP to beat one of those things in a drag. If thats the truth then there power must feel rediculos compaired to my shee. So if the opertunity comes up I should be prepared to get killed. That sucks. Now I need at least 80 hp. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Banshee17Racing
I totally agree with what BansheeRider576. But I still don't understand why everybody says they're fast. When I say fast, I'm talking about speed(top end). I will definately agree that they are amzingly QUICK!!! But, in my experience with them, on ice, wasn't very good. It was a staight 400 ft. drag on a frozen lake(a radar run), I had just happened to be running like crap at the time(backfiring), but I ended the day in the low 70's. I had about 700 screws in a pair of Spider Tracs, now there were two very sweet looking yfz450's up there, also, one with just a pipe, and one with a cam and pipe. I talked to both owners, both grown men about 200-250 lbs., one had over 1000's screws, and the other 800. I weigh about 185-190 lbs with everything mod in my sig, other than Noss head and swingarm, NIETHER of them topped out over 60 mph!! There were 400ex's(I hate ex's) getting the same mph as them. To me it didn't make sense, and I completely understand that they're not top end bikes and totally dominate the tracks(I want one), but after seeing them on the ice, it made think twice about how FAST they really were. Please don't get offended by anything I'm saying here, just what I personally thought about it. Josh
banshee370
Woah!!! Relax I was just referring to the only races i have seen those 450s take part in and they didnt fare too well...Since they came out i have been reading how incredibly fast they were with just a few simple mods,i have seen videos of them beating supposedly 70-80hp Banshees, 80hp Zillas and on and on... Would the outcome had been different in a shorter race? Sure, would they have won? Nope, they were falling behind right from the start. Now remember i stated that these races were held on pavement and also stated i didnt knew how those races would have unfolded if held on dirt or sand. meat head: Im sorry if I came across like an asshole to you... That was not my intentions. There is no way I think a YFZ would beat an 80hp shee. (in a drag race) but on a track.. Yes I think its VERY possible for a "mildly" modded 450 to beat an 80 hp shee. Do I think a YFZ can beat an 80 hp shee in a drag race? I say YES. Its possible DEPENDING on the conditions. (hill, sand, dirt, pavement, RIDER, bike set ups , ect) Do you think I believe all these jokers talking smack about how their stock YFZ beat a built banshee? NO! Now would I sell my banshee for a YFZ? Not a chance in this lifetime. Would I get a YFZ WITH my banshee? SURE! I dont and have never run an MX race, I dont strictly drag race, and I dont strictly trail ride. I do just about everything on my banshee except for MX. Would you say that a 90hp drag ported shee would be a good trail bike or a dune/play bike? ALL of my opinions of the YFZ, I formed myself after spending 4 days in the dunes with a vast array of them. From BONE stock to FULL tricked out MX/Desert racers. The one bike that I had a lot of seat time on had a full sparks pipe and an intake/K&N system. The harder you ride the bike the better it feels. It is VERY predictable, handles SO nice, and pulls like a train. 500.00 in mods and it was side by side w/ a piped/jetted banshee. Ask ANYONE that went to roostfest.... On our FAST dune rides I had to muscle my shee around and I was beat after at least an hour straight HARD HARD riding.. (call me what you want but I'll bet anyone else would be the same) Now after the same kind of ride on the YFZ... I felt as if I was riding a plush BMW w/ the handling of an F1 race car and the grunt/power of a big block chevy. When we were done, I felt as good as I did before we left on a ride. I never said to sell your banshee for a YFZ or that I think the YFZ would replace the banshee.... chipdog-puppy has shown his IQ, intelligence and maturity level several times and I think that stands for itself... When he can hold a stable conversation, then I'll come back to this thread Duece: Im sure you do but if anyone else gets a chance... Take a look at the GNC schedule/results over at www.atvscene.com and tell me when the last time a banshee won in a pro or open pro class. Have a great day everyone.... Blue Duece
Im sure you do but if anyone else gets a chance... Take a look at the GNC schedule/results over at www.atvscene.com and tell me when the last time a banshee won in a pro or open pro class. thats excactly what im sayin.........and if everyone will read back i said geared lower.ie. a 15 up front the yz is right next to me and if i dont get the jump he wins in a 300 footer, geared tall i can be a few bikes out front but again if i dont hook he wins, no other 4 stroke i drag stays that close. ....i can give raptors and ex's a head start, and win......and like i said on the track or in an long open race they are winning, there tight and plush, and pull like mad beefed they really haul ass.....on the street i can beat him cause my gearing will let me do well over a hundred so i can real him in.....but whos racing up and down there street
banshee04le
With all due respect sir, I fail to understand, with all of the hype I've heard from you about passion's porting, why you have trouble beating a 45hp bike that is only 30lbs lighter. Perhaps age is affecting your riding abilities.
ridingorhiding
FYI this last weekend my group of 3 banshee's had a chance to drag a couple of 450's ti pipe and airbox mods, k&n on 450's. Banshee's pipe airbox mod,s reeds and milled head. Result's in 300ft 450's clear winner Result's in 600ft Banshee's pull even Anything past that the banshee clear WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stock for Stock 450's are faster. But who keeps anything stock my ported bike was even with the 450 till i shifted into 3rd then it was GAME OVER for the 450. Both are good bikes i take a 450 anyone want to buy me one?
Meat_Head
meat head:Im sorry if I came across like an asshole to you... That was not my intentions. No problemo, i am not going to fight with you over a thumper anyway... The thing is, after reading all this crap about how stupid fast the 450s were with just a pipe, open air box,cam mod etc. i was expecting a race and a race it wasnt. My Shee is in the 80hp range just like "supposedly" those i see loosing in all the videos so... Now with that said i am sure they are great on a MX track, there is no doubt in my mind they handle better than a Banshee i am also pretty sure they are fun to ride. Blue Deuce; on the street i can beat him cause my gearing will let me do well over a hundred so i can real him in If you have an 80hp Banshee like you say you do then there is no realing them in on pavement... KRMit
Horsepower is horepower. Dynos don't lie. If a Banhee has more horepower, it's more powerful... plain and simple. The 450 just happens to have the best power to weight ratio of any 4 stroke yet so we're kinda blown away by it. After all, we're used to the 400ex . We all know the 450 was designed WAY better so of course it's going to blow away a Banshee in MX. Which one will win in a drag? That all depends on circumstances (length, traction, gearing, blah, blah, blah). Which bike is better? That depends on what you want. If you're a modder, then the Banshee is definately for you because it's customizable beyond anything else. If you just want something to hop on, be reliable, and haul ass on out-of-the-box, get the 450. In short, to each his own. Quit bashing each other!
