I went to my yamaha dealer and one of the sales men there told me that the t.o.r.s removal is just as good as getting the c.v system. He said it sychronizes the carbs almost perfectly compared to the c.v system and you'll spen a whole lot less.what do you guys think. :shootself:

Simply put, the TORS system kills the throttle if the slides stick open. They have nothing to do with syncing the carbs, or a cv system. He is feeding you a load of bs.

The bad thing about TORS is it malfunctions, only a matter of time, and then your shit won't start or run right.

The good thing is its very easy to get rid of and it should be gotten rid of.

Dunno, it's up to you. I've never had a problem with my tors, but many people have. It looks cleaner & would probably make it a bit easier to rejet if they weren't on the carbs, but it's whatever. You can always disconnect the plug on them too so they're not really doing what they're there for. ;)

Dude,

Here's another prime example of a dealership spreading false info. I've found that just because they are a dealership, it does NOT mean they know what they are talking about.

For the record, simply removing the T.O.R.S. system and replacing it with simpler carb tops does not guarantee you'll sync the carbs any better than you can with the T.O.R.S. sytem installed.

T.O.R.S. stands for Throttle Over Ride System. It is a safety system designed to kill the engine if either of your carb slides stick open when you let off the throttle. It has nothing to do with synchronizing your carbs. You'll still have to go through the process of sync'ing your carbs even after you install the new tops through cable adjustment.

Let us know if you need help with carb sync'ing.
