Ok guys I need a little advise. I have a 2002 shee with T-5's, proflow with foam with the box lid on with air vents. I changed the jetting to 290 mains and the provided needle on the middle clip. I ended up changing the mains to 300 and the pilots to 27.5 to be on the safe side. I didnt want to be anywhere lean. Now, as before it runs like crap and cant even get to 6th to check the plugs. The main area of concern is low end and midrange sputtering and bad hesitation. Any idea where I went wrong?? Compression is good, plugs look fine but will replace when I work on it again. Temp here is around 30's and alt is sealevel or so. Your advise is greatly appreciated, thanks.

First thing I'd do is start adjusting the needle and pilot to get the sputtering out of it. If you can't get into 6th your gonna need to look at the plugs. Get the needle in the right position first. I'd drop it to make it leaner first and then go from there. Once you get more response out of it, don't quit there. Drop or raise it again until it gets worse... then put it back to where it ran the best. The pilot is when you start it and are cruising just barely touching the gas. Then needle is from there on to the main. The needle is used for the 1/4 up to full throttle. I know most will say 3/4 throttle, but when you pin the throttle from say 1/4 throttle, the needles doing the work until the main can kick in.

Start by lowering the needle. If it's worse, raise the needle. Once you get the most throttle response move on to the main. I bet your a tad rich on that main.

i have about the same set up as you.at sea level with 60deg temps.mine runs almost optimim with a 25 pilot,1 turn out with the air screw,290 main jet,the needle up one notch from the richest setting,i think i will be abel to pull harder on the bottom with a 27.5 pilot, but i have'nt tried that set up yet.snorkel must be removed,i also run with the lid on.with 10- 1inch filtered holes in air box.i also run a k+n with a outerware.

Thanks so far guys and yes the snorkel is gone. I just changed back to the stock pilot and put the needle clip to the 4th from the blunt end with the same results. I cant imagine the 300 main is the problem, right?????????? I just might wrap a tree with it soon, what am I missing???

For any one who wants to avoid this same problem listen up. The problem stemmed from neglecting to install the flat washer for one of the main jets. The entire main jet assembly rattled around in the carb and caused all hell with the jetting. I spent all day f-ing with it and just rode the bastard balls out. Thanks for all the input, my stupidity ruled this time...........Thanks again..........
