McSkinner Posted March 17, 2004 Report Share Posted March 17, 2004 I took all the clutch plates out and put a flat head screwdriver through one of the fingers on the basket and wedged it in one of the notches on the hub. I know I'll catch hell for telling you this, but I didn't have an impact handy and it took me a couple hours and a few failed attempts before resorting to the trusty screwstick. zilladude Posted March 17, 2004 Report Share Posted March 17, 2004 make a clutch holding tool by riveting a drive & driven clutch plate together. Schizo Posted March 17, 2004 Report Share Posted March 17, 2004 I bought an impact wrench for 50$ new and was the best tool purchase i've ever made removing those hard to get off nuts like that and the flywheel are SO easy with an impact it will make your head spin. midnighttoker Posted March 17, 2004 Author Report Share Posted March 17, 2004 i tried the screw driver method before i posted this thread. hehe. but no luck. i went to try the impact gun and couldnt find a 1 1/4" socket, only a wrench. so ill go buy the socket and hope it will work, thanks for your help.......... That is the best holding tool. It even works for re-torquing the nut. Just put it in gear and hold the brake.... then put in the clutch and steel that is bolted together and torquer down.
