Oil Leak... :-\

From looking at your picture, I am pretty sure that your oil leak is from the counter shaft (the one with the front sprocket) seal. It will not be leaking because of an over tightned sprocket nut, but more likley a worn spacer that runs inside that seal. Those spacers are not very hard, and wear over time.

On the subject of the sprocket nut, I would get it replaced with the proper nut, and the lock washer. If that is not the proper nut on there then it does not have the correct depth on the shoulder, if it has a shoulder at all. The factory nut is designed to strip out when over tightned and leave the threads on the shaft alone.

As for why the NEUTRAL SWITCH ASSY is listed in the elec section, the small screw on it is where the ground wire for the neutral light went on the RZ street bike.

The grommet that is missing had that neutral wire routed through it so the wire could exit the area with the stator wires.

I'm not sure if I'm just really unformilliar with this area on the banshee or what, but what you posted after you talked about the bolt, went in one ear and out the other... No idea what you are talking about with ground wires and RZ models.. :wacko::blink::unsure::whoa:

 

As for the piece lincster was talking about, it is stuck on the stator cover.. I'm thinking he is talking about the rubber surrounding piece that outlines it.

If you look at your pix, see the solid piece of metal that separates your flywheel area from the sprocket area? It runs up and down.

Follow that down towards the bottom. The is 1/2 of a hole that is part of the case. There should be a plug there so when you put your cover back on with the gasket, it seals it.

The plug is a piece all by itself.

What I am talking about is not part of the cover or the gasket that goes on the cover.

Oh yes, I have done that hill many a times. :whoa:

We are pretty close. I am on Signal Butte and Elliot.

I used to ride in the big area off of Ironwood and Elliott before they shut it down.

I can't ride this weekend, gotta pack the grease on my trailers wheels and change the oil in my truck.

Also going to go buy a new quad for my kid, so I am sure I will be out riding with him. :clap:

Now I see/know what your talking about. Will that hurt anything? If yes, what is the point of it???

It will allow dirt and stuff to get into your stator/flywheel area.

As stated above, it is there because when is motor was used in a different application, there was an electrical feedthrough that went through that hole.

I would plug it somehow.

right on, we will hook up and rip it up sometime...I used to ride there also before it closed...and 201 as well. I guess everyone is going out to mile marker 205 now. Might go out there instead of Sycamore if its real hot.
