Hockey390
Installed my case saver, and cleaned up a little bit of crap that was originally sitting where the oil is now. I think the "crap" was holding the oil from leaking out any further.. :-\ What's causing this?
cb67rs1
looks liek the shifter seal is bad, could also be the seal behind the sproket. also do you any harsh degreasers? the can damage those seals.
sredish
Oooh damn. I'd sure hate to clean that mess up. I'm thinking the shifter seal myself, but like he said, could be behind the sprocket also.
Hockey390
You know the little white cap type thing behind the case saver, where those 3 bolts go in, I think its coming from there... Is that the shifter seal? If yes, do I just get a new o-ring? or buy a whole new cap..?
Holyman
I can't remember but take the case saver back off and see if the O ring or seal behind the little white cover is damaged or even still there. It will leak all over without the O ring.
Hockey390
The o-ring is still there, I took the white cap off.. But I'm wondering if it just needs a new one since I took it off?? Because I took the white thing off before I put the case saver on, just because I had no idea what it was and thought it needed to be removed. Anyone know the OEM part number so I can go buy one for $1,000,000 at the stealership?

Anyone know the OEM part number so I can go buy one for $1,000,000 at the stealership? If you got it still & have the oring, just put it back on & the screws that hold it on are replaced by the 3 longer allen head bolts that hold on your case saver. Check out this link, http://216.37.204.206/wps/Yamaha_OEM/Yamah...p?Type=12&A=118 you have to search for your year of shee, then it's under "Electrical 1" (don't ask me why...) ... 20 NEUTRAL SWITCH ASSY 1 $14.58 21 O-RING 1 $2.42 ... Couldn't find the part numbers, but hope that helps ya.
SICK BOY
You can go to a hardware store too and just match the o-ring up with a new one.
lincster
Hate to tell ya this, but from the pix, it looks like your chain slider around your swingarm mount is cracked. The stock ones suck, I would get a new one ASAP before it comes off and your chain grinds into your swingarm. Also, where is the washer that is supposed to go behind your nut to hold your sprocket on? Those nuts can back off over time, that would cause a mess. Hockey390
you are very obserbant. (cant spell but thats ok ) Last summer I replaced my front sprocket, and my EX-friend tightened down the bolt that was holding it on... Ya, as you can guess... I'm driving down a gravel road trying to see how fast my shee goes, and then I hear this TINK noise and my rear tires lock up, thank god it was gravel and not pavement.. My tires would by TOAST! I luckily found my sprocket about 50 yards back in the gravel, got my chain out from where it locked up, and drove my trailer back to my shee and got it on, took it to the local shop, fixed her up.. And of course, the washer was never found... Nor replaced. That nut is on there with a 500 ft/lb air impact wrench, you think it will come off?? As for the chain slider, I thought it was supposed to be like that so you could put it on... Never thought about it. But thanks for tellin me, I should just post a bunch of close-ups of my shee and have everyone find problems Thanks. DP

The sprocket is mounted on a shaft obviously, when you hit it with that impact, you probably pulled the shaft out of the case just a little. This may give you problems later down the road. I would buy the right washer, take the nut off and torque it to the correct amount listed in a Clymers manual. That might be where some of your oil is coming from. There is a seal behind the sprocket that may not be sealing all the way.
lincster
Also, right in front of your case saver, on the case itself, there is a little divet on the case itself. There is supposed to be a plug there so when you put your cover back on, you don't get crap from your sprocket/chain into your flywheel area. You don't have that plug and it looks like you are getting stuff into your flywheel area, hence the darker color, like oil and grime. I would make sure that is sealed back up when you put your cover back on.
sredish
The o-ring is still there, I took the white cap off.. But I'm wondering if it just needs a new one since I took it off?? Dooh! I too took it off just to look inside, however I did put it back on before I installed the saver. See what happens when you post a pic, you get analyzed to hell. It's all good. I also need some new chain slides, however, I try not to let the ladies in my life put a wrench on my machine. Later, glad it was an easy fix. Now, just get the part. I'm going to the dealer today and I'll get a part number if no one gives you one by then.
Hockey390
And when you say get the part, you mean that o-ring right? Just making sure... lincster - I am not sure of what you are talking about, but does it have anything to do with that big cover that goes over my flywheel/sprocket? I'm guessing it isnt, but if it is, that is off to remove the flywheel and take the pic of leaky oil..
DIRTBIKEZ
Hockey390, lincster is talking about the "grommet" that is supposed to be in the small cutout between both "regions" (flywheel/stator and sprocket/chain) shown in your picture. **Just looked at the webpage ledofthezep posted and found a picture for you. http://216.37.204.206/wps/Yamaha_OEM/YamahaATV.asp?Type=13&A=219&B=11' target='_blank'> BANSHEE >ENGINE >>CRANKCASE >>>REF #
