I dont know from personal experience, but i know a guy in town that uses Polaris'

for his ATV adventure/tour business....

He says the older bikes(trades 'em in after a year) were always down for repairs, but the newer ones are't all that bad..

My best friend has a 2000 scrambler 400 2x4 and he beat that thing beyond any belief. He punished that quad for like 2 years he ran it without any air filter and everything, held it wide open down main roads for 8 or 10 miles. and it finally blew up this winter but he is rebuilding it and swares by it. He has an fmf pipe and silencer, shaved head,v force reeds and clutch kit. and it moves pretty good. When he is wound out I could go by him in the top of 5th gear with my banshee. I had a lot of mods on that banshee so it was pretty fast but the scrambler kept up good for a polaris automatic.

hope this helps.

The engine responds to the same mods a banshee does... higher compression, better pipes, bigger carb and better air filter. The major drawback is the clutch. There is naturally alot more slip in the auto clutch and so wheely's for the most part are out of the question.

That being said, there are also clutch mods you can make rather affordably to improve when and how the clutch hooks up.

I have a Trailblazer 250. It starts in the worst weather and has a chushy ride, and they are a blast in the snow :) But I'd never get one instead of my Banshee.

(you forgot reverse & oil injection :D )

I own a trailblazer250 also and can say ive had no major problems with it. All ive done is broke the chain once and the headlight burnt out recently. As for the scrambler400, there pretty good too ive heard. There alot faster than most people think thats for sure. Theres actually ALOT of aftermarket parts for polaris atvs, you just have to know where to look (www.hpd-inc.com, www.hotseatperformance.com, etc etc).

The scrambler has more features than a shee but a shee has more potentiall if you want to call it that when it comes to mx or something simular. The Scram is great for XC or just trail ridin, and with some aftermarket parts can be quicker than alot of atvs youll meet on the trail.

I knew a guy who raced a stock polaris sport (same as scrambler) in MX and did alright with it, in the open class with 400/300exs at the time. Iam just going by his word though, I didnt actually see it.

Hope that helps :spam:

P.S.-Love the new faces

We have a TrailBlazer 250 that I bought new in 98. Just had the Tranny rebuilt, other than that it was/is a great machine. Compression still near perfect and the ride is nice. Great for a buddy bringer quad or for your wife to put around on. I have to admit, I dont mind buzzing around on it either. AHEM, I mean my ported polished bored ticked out Banshee is the only ride out there, oh well you know what I mean. Nice little quad, regardless. B)
