Rear Pads, Caliper Is Pretty Tight On Rotor.

I just finished the install on my axle, and everything is good. It spins pretty free and I tapped in a zerk fitting, although, the grease won't really go in there. Is the seal so tight that it won't allow grease to pump in? I was thinking of sliding the axle out just a little to open the seal. Stupid? And yes, I did remove the little seals on the bearings.

Anyway, main question. I replaced the rear pads with EBCs R pads. The piston won't open anymore. It's on the rotor, and I can spin the axle some, but it's pretty tight. I haven't replaced the pads before, so I was wondering if the pads will "conform" after a short ride or something. I'm gonna change the fluid today. The pedal is a touch soft for my blood, think I'm gonna be ordering a set of stainless lines from Galfer.

Thanks,

LATER :bolt:

PS - Like the new smilies.

Your piston caliper hasn't gone in all the way. It will conform after a while, but it will wear the pads and/or the brake rotor prematurly. More then likely, the exposed part of the caliperpiston is caked with dirt and corrosion. clean it up and push it in...sometimes I use a big c-clamp. after it sits flush with the housing try installing the new pads and see if it fits better. I once grinded a set of brake pads to fit before I thought of cleaning up the caliper..stupid me.

I'm such a dumbass. :shootself: I forgot about the parking assembly. I just backed out the screw on the parking brake side and it let the piston go on in. I just ordered a damn blockoff plate a minute ago.

Thanks for the input Motul.
