bigboybanshee
I'm not positive on this one but wouldn't you hook the tach up to the positive lead on the coil? That makes more sense to me than wrapping a wire around a spark plug...
Cotton eyed Joe
I'm not positive on this one but wouldn't you hook the tach up to the positive lead on the coil? That makes more sense to me than wrapping a wire around a spark plug... Actually Travis, when you wrap the wire around the spark plug, you create an inductor. As the electricity fires into the plug, there is a magnetic pulse that "follows" it. When this magnetic pulse hits another wire, it causes a "blip" of voltage in the wire. When you wind the wire around this plug, it makes for a more drastic influence in that wire, than if you were to just lay it next to the sparkplug. The tach then reads the change in voltage in that wire, and knows when it was fired.
Minkia38
actually he is right, you put a ground on, and a wire to the stator - thats it. alot cleaner than wrapping a plug around the wire, but that will work too...
