CrashFireBanshee
I have a ricky stator adjustible timing plate and I was wondering what it would be safe to advance it to. Stock motor with fmf fatty pipes. Also if I advance the timing do I need to rejet? I am running 91 octane fuel also. What benifits does advancing the timing give you? Wallrat
Most people stick with +4 degrees. I've got a degree key that advances it 3 or 4 degrees. It feels like the engine has more balls is the best way to describe it. And no you don't have to rejet. What altitude are you at?
CrashFireBanshee
I am around 1350 ft. but I also run at 2300 ft and would like to make it glamis soon which is 330 ft.
CrashFireBanshee
What jetting do you suggest for the fatty pipes. I just put them on. I have played with the premix ratio some to compensate. I had a dynoport 2-1 pipe on it before but I have no idea what my jetting is. Guess I need to just rip it apart and learn how to jet. 909
You can go up to 4 degrees without worrying about detonation on pump fuel. Any more and you'll want to run 50% race mix. 7 degrees would be max with race gas and completely unnecessary with your mods. Not too sure on jetting for the 2 into 1 pipes but for tommeys and fmfs @ glamis, people are running 280 mains and the correct toomey needle. Dynojet has the right needles in their jetting kit. I would strongly suggest you lay out the $65 for this kit and be damn close. The enemy for you right now is if you're running the tock needle. The center of it is fatter than the dyno jet/toomey which will run you lean in the mid range.
fixitrod
When I had my fatties on a pretty stock motor I ran 340 mains, 25 pilots (stock), and the needle lowered one position. Fatties seem to like a leaner needle. That was with no air lid and a k&n filter and stock carbs and 500' elevation in Indiana. Humid air here. ledofthezep
I'm now running the same stator myself. I advanced the timing +4...no regrets. Now shee has absolutely no hesitation from idle to WOT. Give me a chub just think'n about it.
scotts96fast
With all the different setups that are out here.Has anyone had problems running +4 timing on pump gas?I've been tossing it around to run +2 or+4 with my set-up....I have 150 PSI from what I heard porting can be a factor also.
