Quad came with 4 qts of Yamalube 2-R. Seems to be good oil. Mixing at 32:1. Picked up a gallon of Amsoil and am going to try the 50:1 with synthetic. Haven't heard a single negative thing about them.

Used to be a huge Klotz fan back in my CR500 days..

Dumb question....

Is this stuff OK to use? Despite the "Injector oil" it also says "suitable for pre-mix applications at 50:1" on the back panel. It isn't the 2000 series oil or anything but... I'm assuming this stuff is fine to use also? (50:1)

Oh yeah... Just found this post (after posting the above, of course..haha)

Hope it doesn't go kerboom. Maybe will mix it at 42:1 or something instead..hehe.

The Owners manual recommends Yamalube R 24:1.  Everyone else says 32:1.  Whats do you run?

The manual is BS, way overly conservative. 32:1 is fine on the yama 2R. Maxima - Castor 927 at 40:1 for me please.

I run Castor 927 at 32:1. I usually just get the smaller bottles and pour one bottle in with 4 gallons of gas. How many gallons could I safely get away with mixing one bottle with?

1 Gal = 128 OZ

mix 32:1 using 4 galons

X 4 gal = 512 OZ / 32 = 16oz = 1 small bottle of castor 927

mix 40:1 using 5 galons

X 5 gal = 640 OZ / 40 = 16 oz = 1 small bottle of castor 927

If you have a 4 gallon container and want to go 40:1 then

mix 40:1 using 4 galons

X 4 gal = 512 / 40 = 12.8 Oz = 1 small bottle of 927 with some left in it.

;)

Thanks for breaking that down for me. I failed Chemistry. :shootself:

Another question... when pouring a bottle of oil in the gas can, the bottle never completely empties which leaves just a little oil in the bottle. Is that amount insignificant enough I can still use 5 gallons of gas and be at 40:1, or would that be more like 41:1?

if your that concerned about that, just pour a small amount of gas back in to the bottle, give it a swirl and pour it  back in.

Thats what I do. You don't have to get the ratio absolutly perfect though, its like a hand gurnade, get it real close and it works just fine!
