got1banshee
Ok I now finaly have my Passion racing engine in and running. Its almost all broke ina and is running very good. I do have a slite hesitation when I first get on the throttle for some reason. As for my gearing I started with a 16/39 and worked my way to a 14/39. With the 14/39 this bitch is scary!!!!!!! When I first put the engine in the bike and started braking it in most of you know that I blew up my tranny. I tor into her and found my 2nd gear broke so I replaced the gears and put it all together and didn't work. So I then packed it up and off to Jim the engine went. He found that the 5th gear had welded its self to the shaft. Well we got a new shaft and 5th gear. When Jim got the 5th gear he told me that they totaly redisigned the 5th gear so we are guessing that this is an old problem or something. Well I got the engine back from Jim today and put it in the bike and I gave it a couple primer kicks and then I kicked it only once and it started right up. Drove it around the neigborhood and I have a few ass holes for neigbors and they called the cops. I got a ticket and then had to put her up. I don't have much experiance with powerful quads but I couldn't imagine having anymore power. This engine pulls so hard at such a low RPM un up to about 10,000 rpms that its really unbelievable. It is something that I have never experianced before. I have owned a ZX 6 street bike and this quad gives me so much more adrinalen ruch that its unreal. I can't say enough good stuff about this engine. Thanks Jim!!!!!!!!!!! Here I am riding a 5th gear wheely
Jeffro
So you changed your gearing back to a 14 in front... I am running 15/41 right now and I really don't like it. I was pulling 4th and 5th gear wheelies but I can't with the 15 tooth on. I think I need to downsize the rear gear to the 39.
got1banshee
Yeah try that and let me know what you think Jeff. With 14/39 mine is scary man it really is.
locogato11283
I think I need to downsize the rear gear to the 39. if you do this your gearing will be even higher than it already is. you need to go up in the rear to gear it lower. Good point man, I should have thought of that when I replied to his post.
XTShee
In the trails I was running 15/40 on my stock engine with T5's and it seemed to pull it fine. With all that extra HP you are gaining wouldnt you be better to gear it up to something like 16 or 17 on the front. With a 14 on the front your first few gears must be so short, and you must be shifting all the time
Jeffro
ya... I have a 15/41 on it now but I have a 16 that I haven't put on yet. I forgot that I also put a +4 arm on it with the 15 tooth front, which is why the wheelies are much harder. I'm got some experimenting to do. How do you like it and how does it turn?
Jeffro
I like it but my shock is now crap so I'm going to have to get it rebuilt. I may put the other arm back on because that arm to me is only good for the dunes and drag racing. I don't want to have my shock redone yet... $400 more bucks down the banshee pit. got1banshee
Hey Jeff have you ran yours in the sand yet? How you found a good gear set up that you like?? I have been playing with 14/39 and 15/39, I think the 14 is wat to low and the 15 is a good gear I need to put my 16 back on and drive that for a while but me chain is to small so I have to wait till I get my +4 swing and then I will put my new chain on. Its a bad ass engine huh Jeff.
Jeffro
no sand yet. I've got a 39 rear gear on order so I'll be giving that a try next. I'll probably be in the sand next weekend. Need Paddles still.
Blue Duece
try a 17 up front no point haveing all that power geared close to stock, see if your first four gears dont break your arms.....i ran a 15 and was dragging and guys were right on my tail..i went taller gears they couldnt pull.... now i finish 100 feet in front of them......jims motor will pull the shit out of a 16 in the deepest sand going straight up hill.....
