MotulMonsta
To check the jetting at idle is simply as stated. start your bike and let it idle. if it runs better with the choke on, it's running lean. Pull the plugs out, they should have fuel and oil on them, if they don't it's running lean. Then after you check it you break the motor in. after you break the motor in you check the plugs again then jet.
NorthWisBanshee
Checking the main jets at idle? That choke on / off method will only tell you if your air screw or pilot jet setting is rich or lean. That won't tell you anything about the main jet! Good luck. Blacksmith
When I started the move to a 2-1 setup I was running stock carbs with 270 mains and 27.5 pilots. I tried the 190/52 setup from Trinity and the pig was so fat it would hardly run. I am now at 168 main and 40 pilot. Now, I am not done jetting but I am pretty sure I am going to end up at 170 main and a 38 pilot. I don't think that there is any way that you were lean on your jetting. I am betting that you had an air leak. On that subject, I ALWAYS go over the intake system with small blasts of starting fluid with the bike running EVERY time I take the intake system apart. If you have an air leak and hit it with the fluid, the bike will rev to the moon for a sec. Good luck.
nasty01banshee
whoops, thought it was the top end, just tore the whole thing down, and it's in the bottom, kudos to boonman, as the stator can be turned backwards by hand, but nothing doin' try to hand crank it by the kickstarter, any opinion on the trinity head or noss head being better than my cool head since it's already apart and i have an friend interesed in my cool head????
