Exhaust Seals/clamps

Recommended Posts

After swapping the 410 mains back to my usual 320s  I started her up to make sure it ran. As it was idling I noticed that the left pipe seal between the pipe and stinger leaks.....alot. There was almost as much smoke coming from in between the frame as there was out the silencer.

Where do I get new clamps, and what do you guys recommend? These are my stock set.

-OR- where do I get high temp o-rings, and I'll build my own.

Thanks.

Cascade Innovations make exhaust clamps specifically for different brands of pipes.

If you have a set of pipes that have a slip fit joint (the silencer slips over the head pipe) you can just use silicone heater hose with a couple of hose clamps and it will seal fine. Just make sure it is silicone heater hose - not reguler hose or it will melt.

If you don't have a slip fit joint this probably won't last too long and are better off getting some aluminum clamps that will hold the two tegeather.

I got some of the exhaust tape junk from Autozone (like $3 if I remember right) and wrapped one layer around the connection between the silencer and pipes. Then put the silicon heater-hose sections over that, and hose-clamped it down. No leaks at all now :) That exhaust tape peels right off, too, if you ever need to take the silencers off or whatever. Just a cheap and easy fix.

Those billet clamps are nice too.. just was too impatient to purchase and wait for one at the time so the exhaust tape & heater hose trick still resides on mine. :D

I used to have T5's with them I ran some billet o ring clamps from TM design works (one piece, looked awesome, worked great) now I have shearer pipes, they have a larger stinger tube than the T5's so I now have the Cascade split clamps, I like the way they work, don't like the way they look.
