Shattered Piston Follow Up

ROOFCOCK

Recommended Posts

well i took my mutilated engine out today, and took off the jugs only to have more bad news. the rod is bent. so here is a new dilema...do i put a long rod in it or go back stock.do i fix my crank or buy a new wiesco. after this devistation of destruction all i want now is to make it smoke anything i ride with. a truly dedicated rider knows there is no sense in a tear down with out enhancement. so what i am requesting is info from you guys with screaming banshees. if i must dump my money into it to be able to ride it it must be worth it. the old lady will never understand this but i am sure you guys do. please give me some suggestions on what needs to be done to make it scream like never before. however, i dont want it to lose reliability or make it a pain in the ass to maintain. just the most bang for the buck. all advice would be appreciated but unless yours is the shit you may not be able to help me thank you for listening to my ridiculously long post

i would go for the stroker crank and rod from wiseco along with a great port job 34mm carbs bore it to what ever it takes to get the scratches out were it decided to expload on you t-5 if you dont have pipes twist conversion henson 8 disk clutch basket and clutch to handel the power thats just my 2 cents

That should have been my rule, but it wasn't. I got a long rod crank. Now, I want a stroker. I say talk to Jim, and send him your top end. He will send you back the cylinders bored and ported, and a crank, and top end kit. You will smoke that EX in no time.....

If you straight drag race, you may be suprised what a stock stroke crank can do with proper porting, carbs, pipes, reeds. Now, if you want some more bottom end and harder pulling shee the stroker is the way to go. Don't forget the extra's though. You need to spend a little extra on the porting, crank, new 34pj's or 35 pwk's for most riding, new intakes for them, new air filter system or boots to use the stock box (you'll have to move the stock box though), and all the little gotcha's that go with modifying. It's gonna cost you more than the crank and porting.. .just keep that in mind. But, if you want to scream, that's the only way to do it... spend the money. Oh, I'd put a new clutch in while I was at it also.
