g-dub
I'm new to this, so sorry if my questions are remedial. I just noticed today that one side of my exhaust is pushing substaintally more than the other. I read on one of these foroms about someone with the same problem, but can't locate it now that i need it. Seems to me it's in the carb, and the only adjusting i've done is to the air adjustment screws on eache carb. I'll try to make sure the carbs are syncronized next, and any other info is appreciated. brugal
Check your sparkplugs first.
nater006
I've got a similar thing going on... just at idle. Its not a whole lot more but if you watch it it is noticeable. Played around with the jetting a bit for a few hours last night and got it pretty well set except for that one lil bit at idle. Dunno either Changed the plugs and it didn't make a diff... nater006
http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23074 I think thats the post you're looking for. Seems the most likely candidates are plugged pilots and air leaks. Boots on mine are pretty new so betting on the pilot.
MotulMonsta
your carb sync could be out. If it's just a little off idle I wouldn't worry too much about it. You could also have worn reeds and a clooged exhaust..maybe one piston has higher compression then the other. I bet it's carb sync, they have to be perfect and set up exactly alike or it will run a little funny.
g-dub
on the forum listed above someone talks about the notches in the top of the slides. he says its normal to idle off the right side if the left side carb has 2 notches, and the right side only has one. has any one else heard of this, and is it true? the bike runs fine, when i ride, it just bothers me to see only one side smoking at idle. thanks
Banshee Bull
Mine New one or new to me witch is a 96 model has had the tors tops taken off and no idle screws put in place so I got to looking at it cause one side was smoking lots more than the other. The guy I got it from ran some penzoil or some cheep 2 cycle oil like 18 to 1 or something real rich like that so after checking my compression which was 116 psi in both sides I found it was my carbs not in sink and one was trying to run both cylinders thru the cross over tube.
