36mm Carbs? Wtf...

Recommended Posts

Here's the deal. Just bought my Banshee a couple months back. Its my second one -- the first was a slightly modified 91. Had Toomey pipes and the intake and ran real nice, pretty typical. This one has the Toomeys and ProDesign w/ K&N and it runs insanely faster.

I don't know why.

It *does* have 36mm carbs. They're Mikuni. They were 34's (I believe) and were bored to 36mm (maybe 35.5.. my ruler is relatively accurate..hehe)

The engine has an insane port job, according to him. Haven't really looked at the porting yet but I have (and have misplaced...) a piece of paperwork showing an expensive and extensive port job on the engine (serials matched up just fine). It still runs fine on pump gas but *really* likes AV gas.

I haven't ripped the powerplant down to the point of identifying anything super that would require the 36's though.

Ah... its confusing. Anyone got any ideas? Might just have to tear it to pieces eventually and put some pics on here and have people tell me WTF is going on :)

In the meantime... enjoying the speed. Wishing I hadn't misplaced the paperwork. Wondering what is lurking in the powerplant. Gonna go on a paperwork hunt later tonight...

Hehe...

Well I don't know whats in the powerplant.. thats the thing. Been having too much fun going way too fast. The sprockets and chain were pretty toasted when I got it so I threw on new stock geared sprockets -- 14/41. It just spins spins spins, but is sick fast on hard ground or concrete (got some ol worn holeshots for that very reason!).

I dunno. Hate to "downgrade" and have a problem but don't really want to rip it apart right now and find what is truly in the powerplant. It definitely is not stock with some pipes and intake and carbs thrown on. Porting from hell? possibly. Other than that... dunno....
