Air Box ?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what would be the best air box mod for me. I live in norhtern Minnesota, so there is mud puddles, rain and deer shit everywhere  . Is there a good way to mod my airbox without getting that shit in there? Right now I have a K&N in the stock box and I still have the shitty snorkel on. Any ideas? Thanks.

yeah, run a dual stage foam, rip that airbox lid off, rejet.....and never look back.....well except for holes that are deeper than the airbox. Been running that way for over 2 years now with no problems.

minnshee01, i run without the lid all the time. i have a pro design adaptor and foam filters. haven't had any problems with it yet. just be sure to check your filter after every ride, and clean as needed. and ditch the drain catch on the bottom of the box to let water and stuff roll back out. as said before, just watch out for water crossings that would be over your airbox. otherwise, you should be fine.

I still have my catch tube on the bottom of my airbox, I just cut the bottom of it off so water can still exit it pretty quickly but wont get in as fast. They make one way valves for them but I forget where to get them.

I cut the whole back side of the airbox off right where it meets where the pro flow kit mounts to. So in essence I have no airbox. just a big foam filter hangin' out in the open. I've yet to have any problems with the filter falling off..I race mx with it..but I do worry about sucking water. Pro flow is a tough ass kit and very dependable AND long lasting. One of the most trouble free mods i've made.

If your really worried about water, they make special lids with vents along the sides and back. You can do this yourself on the stock lid. What you want is to channel the water down and around the filter while maintaining good airflow.
