V Paddle Or Straight Paddle?

;) Is the Northwest the only place that Sand Geckos are used? At Winchester Bay, Florence, Sand Lake, lot's of quads are running the Gecko. Great straight line acceleration, super for sliding and side-hilling, not the best for sand drags of course, but a person doesn't just do in a straight line all day...how would you make it back to the truck!! Sheeesh

ATV Action magazine claims it's one of their favorites...hhmmm

:o:o WHO TOLD YOU THAT? My nephew runs haulers and most of his buddies do as well, but there hasn't been one time we go riding that he doesn't want to trade bikes for an hour or so. Why? Because the gecko is a blast to side hill, to run the dunes, chasing around on the trails. I don't win all the drags, but I take a few, and if you bleed 'em down to 2 pounds of air, they hook up enough to keep the front end in the air. If you have'nt tried 'em don't just assume they suck....sheeesh

;) I guess you could compare it to the Boneheads out on the sand riding the Honda 400 EX, ask them, they say, "I heard those Banshees suck".

Now, does that sound like an informed opinion? uhhhhh, no.

Got a question on those sand kings turbo paddles, they are a straight paddle, but my question is, is there anywhere you can buy them besides Jims Sand Toys in Little Saraha OK?

I don't know man, I've never seen them anywhere else...have looked everywhere. Surely someone does. You could always call down & talk with Jim & see where he gets them...

Take that back...I just did a search on google & found several results...

They actually have a site now: http://www.kingstire.com/KT-177.htm

(have fronts to match also!)

other retailer...

I ran Geckos and switched them out for the sand stars. Since there's an argument about this, lemme offer my own opinion:

Geckos suck ass. Period. Incredibly heavy tires that spin like crazy. Yes they are easy to slide...but thats cuz you can't get them to hook up worth a damn. Don't stop facing up even a slight incline or you'll just dig a hole and get stuck. I ran the air pressure down at 2 psi and still hated em. The stars on the otherhand, kick ass. Much lighter so it feels like a whole new bike. They hook up great and throw an insane amount of roost. Sliding is no problem as they'll kick loose with a throw of the hips and a blip on the throttle. In fact the only thing bad that anyone I know that runs the stars has said is that on every group ride nobody wants to follow them cuz they kick up so much roost.

My roomate is selling his gecko's & getting the Turbo paddles for his EX. I let him try my paddles last time we were down when my stator was crapped out & he was sold after his 1st ride on them. The gecko's are a heavier tire. But for general duning they'll get you around just fine. As far as the difference between the strait paddles on the turbos compared to others, just some of the things that come to mind is they're a bit wider than my previous 9pdl haulers, couldn't tell a weight difference, they look as if they're constructed stronger than the haulers, are not 'buffed' like the skats were, and they were a little over $100 cheaper. The price is the main reason I went with them, and after Jim talked with me about them for a few. He said that down there they are one of his best sellers. The sand stars look sweet though, wouldn't mind trying some myself sometime. My g/f's little brother runs them on his stock blaster & he loves the chit out of them. At Jims I believe they were around $186 for the sandstars...somewhere around there.

this is my opinion but the geckos suck. everyone in southern california and the Glamis area hate them. they are the "cheap tire" around here. i run skat traks and they are nice. straight haulers are harder to turn in the sand thats why alot of the duners run the V shaped paddles. i have never seen a drag bike at glamis with V shaped paddles on it. i have been told my paddles thro a good enough roost not to follow too close behind so i guess they are good and i can keep the front end up til i hit thrid gear area.

go with the V shaped paddles.
