What is a good sand tire for the rear? How many paddles should I get? V-or straight? I want to slide so I assume straight? What is a good brand to get? I would like to keep 20" tire so I do not have to change gearing. Thanks to all that Can help me.

Banshee33
I like to slide. Some drags? Is GBC a good brand? Some tires don't list how many paddles. I'm confuesed PLEASE HELP
fixitrod
Well, now that I have been to two sets of dunes, I can say it depends on the sand and type of riding. There were people out at dumont with some tires called mini desert paddle or something like that and they were smokin. They did awesome. V-paddles were working good out there to. The sand wasn't really really soft, but it started getting softer as the weekend went. I know that's not an answer and I don't think anyone can give you the perfect answer. Depends were you want your strongest point.. sliding, duning without a giant roost, dragging, just cruising. Seemed to me every paddle had it's goods and bad. Banshee33
What would you reccomend? Is GBC a good paddle tire? How many paddles do they have?
DUNEDEMON
Personally, I would stay away from the GBC's, friends of mine have had poor results with the tires performance. I like the ITP Sand Stars for general duning (v shaped, 8 paddle).
Banshee33
How are the V's for sliding? How are Skat-Trak Paddles?
wheeleymaster99
i have a set of gbc sand sharks they work on but not the best for hill climbing but you will be able to get it sideways like its nothing with the v-blades
STLbanshee
I just ran the skat trak v-paddles, and I didnt like them, there was no sliding at all..its like the pushed the front end through the sand..like if you wanna do doughnts..dont even think about it..like if I went up to a sand burm and tried to roost the burm, it would like hook and send me straight...I dont know what straight paddles would be like.. DUNEDEMON
The v shaped tires turn / slide easier than straight paddles, but may sacrifice some straight line aceleration. Skat-Trak makes a nice tire too, I used to run them beforre I got the ITP's. The Skat-Trak v shapped tire is called the "edge"
Ducman
Generally for dragging and hill climbing in sand the straight paddles are best and tend to have the most hookup. Some people like the striaght paddles best for all around dooning too. The best all around dooning, truning/sliding, and side hill traction (in case you are going across a sile slope and not up the slope) are generally V shape paddles. Most paddles are 8 paddle tires if they dont say how many, and usually only the straight paddles come with more or less paddles than 8. I've heard the BGC paddlemasters have great durability but are heavy and dont hook up as well as many others in the sand, I haven't heard anything on their regular straight paddles. The best deal I've found on straight paddles (tip from Ledofthezep) was from Jims Sand Toys on the Sand King turbo paddle, (580) 824-2021. However I heard many good things about and went with the ITP Sand Stars from Rockey Mountain.
Banshee33
So V paddles will be better for sliding? I can not find the ITP Tire you were talking about? Can you post a link.

Banshee33
So that tire will slide good? I want to be able to roost without to much traction.
DUNEDEMON
Yes, the ITP "Sand Star" slides great.
