Advancing Your Timing Yourself

Recommended Posts

I'm sure a few people will jump my shit but I'll ask anyway. I did a search on this and didn't find what I'm looking for. Does anybody have specific info for modifying your stock timing plate to advance it about 3-4 degrees?? I need to know how far to go and any other little tips or tricks that go along with it. I have the plate off and I'm ready to do it.

Not having any super good drilling tools at my disposal, I just spent the $35 and got the adjustable plate from Ricky Stator. But, thats a great idea there!

By the way... since you folks obviously know about timing... sorry to steal the thread but.. with porting, etc, whats the max you'd want to advance the timing to still run on pump gas? (94 octane). Just don't want to blow a hole in a piston...
