sheechandchong Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I am thinking of rechroming my t5's. I can get them decarbonized and chromed for about $150 I am wondering if this is a good idea. I think I read something about a product that keeps them from blueing.Anybody heard of this? Quote
pimp559 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 If you want the trick set up, get the inside of your pipes cerma-chromed and have the outside regular chromed. They won't blue that way and your chrome will look sweet forever. Or you could just cerma-chrome on the outside and not have to worry with doin both. Or get the chrome on outside and buy the blue away stuff and keep cleaning them which is probably the cheapest. Quote
yamaha350 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 toomey does cheap chrome. if the chrome is done correctly it will not turn blue or brown. Quote
Lepew Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 If your pipes aren't turning blue by the cylinders then you aren't getting all the power out of your bike. Turning blue is normal where the heat is produced. Quote
MotulMonsta Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Yeas Chroming is always a good idea. I should have spent that extra cash and had my T-5's cromed. Now I spend a lot of time fighting corrosion on my pipes...that's a lot of wd-40 that I go through. 60% of the time it takes me to wash is devoted to corrosion control, 80% of that time is spent on my bare metal pipes. My next set will be chromed. Quote
yamaha350 Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 most pipe companies leave out one step in the chroming process. if all the steps are done the pipes wont turn blue or brown. Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 pipes shouldn't blue if your jetted right if they are that means your lean and your exughst temp is to hot Quote

erbilabuc Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 You cant skip a step and get chrome! Quote
