99screaminshee Posted March 4, 2004 Report Share Posted March 4, 2004 spray the shit out of it with penetrating oil heat it up then get a piece of steel rod put it against the end of the bolt and whack the shit out of it ur prolly not gonna be able to save it if that doesnt work cut off the ends of it between the swingarm and frame then ull need to get new caps thats the only way i know of we had to do this to my friends 400ex only we had to cut it 6 places since the swingarm bolt goes through the motor junky honda designs Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
pimp559 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Share Posted March 4, 2004 Well to start off I would get a brass punch and whack the shit out of it a few times with that. The brass is softer than the bolt so it shouldn't hurt the bolt. YOu still need to be careful to make sure the punch is square on the end of the bolt before you hit it (just added protection from the threads). If this doesn't work after a couple real hard whacks then stop. Next you'll want to get a large tappered punch. The punch will need to be able to fit in the end hole of the bolt ( as to not damage the threads when you whack it with the hammer). If you get to this point chances are you might damage the bolt getting it out. You could use a little heat but theres not alot a room around the frame, be careful not to heat the paint/powdercoat. It may be helpful to set the shee on her side to get a better position at hitting the punch. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck. brock_fuzzy_69 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Share Posted March 4, 2004 i had a similar bolt to remove on my car fromt he lower suspension arm i had a friend turn it witha breaker bar while i beat the shit out of it with a center punch in this case i guess you will have to use whatever punch fits the end of the bolt right and yes a good penetrating fluid sprayed on and let to sit over night will work wonders if you set the machine on its side os that the oil will flow down into the bolts hole Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

locogato11283 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Share Posted March 4, 2004 if you are really worried about tearing up the bolt leave the nut on. unscrew the nut so that its even with the end up the bolt. then get a BMFH and whack the shit out of it. this might free it up. if this doesnt work then who cares about tearing the bolt up. beat the holy shit out of it so that you can get it out, then go buy a new one. its a pain but you may have to. i bought a cr500 dirtbike with a swingarm pivot bolt stuck. it was impossible to get out. i tried heat, hammer force, and even putting it in a press. in the end i had to turn the bike over and cut it with a hot saw. talk about a pain. 98bonerSTOCKshee Posted March 5, 2004 Author Report Share Posted March 5, 2004 Thanks alot guys, I had pretty much tried everything ya'all said all but getting the torch or the saw out.. It has pretty much sat for 2 days since I started soaking with WD20. Tonight I didn't even try, My brother whack it twice with the 5#er and it busted loose..He said I was scared to hit her..He was problee right!! The bearing are gone, I mean really gone I got dust and a few particals.. The outer race is molded to the swingarm.. Yet another challenge! With all of the nasty muddysandywet ass riding I do,I'll probably put a grease fitting on the swingarm housing. However, I did this with the rear axle housing and I found out that it wasn't a good idea with sealed bearings. The grease has nowhere to go, And when I filled the axle housing with grease it actually almost fried my rear end once I started riding, I just screwed the grease fitting out and releived the pressure..
