jonnyrebel2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I dont really know that much about carbs so bear with me here. I have a 2000 Banshee with FMF Power Core II exhaust system, K&N air filer with no air box lid, a boost bottle. I just installed a Noss cool head with 20cc domes and a set of V-Force reeds. I puled the carbs off the see what size main jet it had and it was a 260. Do you think I should change anything, like main jet size or needle setting? If so what size should I go to? I ride at about 1000 to 1200 feet in elevation. I will be running premium pump gas through it. Is the bigger the number on the main jet the bigger the hole or the smaller the hole? I am down to the point now where I need to know what to do, so I can put it back together. Any help is needed. Thanks Travis Quote
yamaha350 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 the jetting sounds good. the larger the number on the jet the bigger the hole in the jet. just do a plug check an dmake sure it is a light brown color. Quote
sredish Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 just do a plug check an dmake sure it is a light brown color. thats it. Its really hard to tell you where you need to be. We can give you an approximation, but really, your the only one who can find the true answer. Your plugs are the way of communication from your motor. Go the the FAQ of BHQ and look at the jetting page, it will help you read plugs, and to figure out how to know where you need to be. Quote
Ducman Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 No!!!!!!!!! 260 is to small. With a K&N with FMF's and no lid on your air box you need to be running at least a 320 main. I'd say #30 pilot, one clip richer on the needle 4th position from the blunt end and 320 mains. To the plug chop method. Read This and it will tell you all you need to know about jetting and give you a better idea on where to start with your jeting after making mods and how to check your jeting to see if its correct. jonnyrebel2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Author Report Posted March 2, 2004 Do you have any idea where my air screw should be after I change everything else? I didn't look to see where it was so I have no idea. Thanks Travis Quote
Ducman Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Mine runs good at 2 screws out with #30 pilots at 500' elev. 40 to 60 degrees. You have to try adjusting them to see where it idles the strongest at and has the best of idle throttle response when you just blip the throttle to about 1/4 open. If you get more than 2.5 turn out go down 1 size on the pilots, if you get less than 1/2 turn out then go up 1 size. Quote

Thanks Travis I didn't see your location before, but your not too far from me. Where your at, I bet 260 is quite lean, like Ducman said. You should try a 320. With similar mods (the mods below) I was at a 310 last summer. I don't know where the hell my air screw is at the moment, can't remember, but it runs good so I don't furk with it. Ducmans got you fixed up. Like I said, your pretty close to me, I'm meeting some fellow BHQ guys at Little Sahara OK on the 19th, you should arrange it to come also. Quote
jonnyrebel2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 I am already planning on being there that weekend too. Do you or the other BHQ fellows mind that I am only 17? If not I would like to ride around with yall some. Out of everyone that is going with me, i dont think anyone will have anything that can keep up with a shee, so I will need someone to ride with, if you dont mind. Thanks Travis Quote

jonnyrebel2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Author Report Posted March 3, 2004 Does anyone know where online I can I can purchase main jets and pilot jets? I read that you can only use jets made for a Banshee, because the others are too long or something like that. I tried the local dealership but they said they didnt have the sizes I need. I need 320 mains and #30 pilots. If anyone knows where I can get these please let me know. Thanks Travis Quote
