STLBILL
Hi guys: I'm selling my 'Shee. Yell if you know anyone looking for one. Here are the details: 2003 Yamaha Banshee - Complete Package. About 33 Hours Use - Never rolled K&N Air Filter - Dealer installed/serviced. Cycle Country Cloth Hand Guards Razor rear tires - 95% Tread. Yamaha Dealer serviced always with receipts. Includes Nationwide 5x8 tilt trailer with mesh deck. Cotton eyed Joe
I know what you mean Bill. When I wrecked, everyone that saw my banshee in the shop sitting there twisted told me how lucky I was. My wife wanted me to go ride another banshee THE DAY I WRECKED!!!!!!!! Hell, I could barely walk or breathe. Its taken quite a bit to get it back into riding shape, and every now and again it comes back to me what I went through that day. Honestly today I got to ride my banshee in the road at my shop, and it scared me somewhat. I only made a couple of passes, and I got off of it shaking. Its quite the thrill, but I hope to never do what I did a year and a half ago. I have earned a new respect for this bike, because I know what will happen to me if I don't respect its power. I hope you recover fully Bill, and its admirable that you listen to your loved ones. I can't say its sad to hear you are selling your banshee, as it may very well be for the best. I told my self after I wrecked, that if my knees didn't allow me to walk normal again, that I was out. It took about 3-4 months, and I was back to leg pressing 800lbs again. Im not exactly the same as I was, but I'm alright. Take care. Stan
brugal
Somethings have to get done.Reading Cotton Eyed Joe and StillBills post has been an eye opener. You never think it can happen to you.No matter how good of a rider a person thinks he or she is, on any given day it can happen.I personally never witnessed a close to fatel crash,so I never thought about it much but its a reality.Sometimes its best to go with your gut and listen to your loved ones. Be easy...
evil
are you kidding, stan has been taking flinstone vitamins all his life and he drinks milk so he can be big and strong bill. that sucks your leaving the world of atv's but you have to do what you feel is right, not what everyone else says you need to do. i knew my day would come sometime and it still may, i hope its not a bad one though. through out the years of riding, crashing, building, racing, bla bla bla i have since seen my balls out riding style and have changed with age and experience. i know if i went back out on a mx track i could hang with the big boys, but just dont feel i need to. to this day i still get the shakes when i sit on a banshee, weather i built it or just jetted it for a friend ! having a family now and trying to make it a family oriented thing has changed me alot in the way i ride and the choices i make while riding. i still chose to ride no matter what the situation, if i feel like going off i do , if not i lay low and ride for fun. i just hope that your decision is made from the heart and not from what your hearing and you still hang out with us and try to help out the people with what ever they ask. Meat
dont do it Bill. dont do it. dont ride it for awhile, recover some more physically and mentally. Learn from your mistakes and keep riding like you know you can, fast and full of adreline, but safe. If you sell that Banshee, you lose. Now if you just dont care about losing your Banshee, and your ready to "take it easy", go buy yourself a big cushy Polaris and enjoy. I''ll still respect you. There's no way I can understand what you went though with your wreck, both physically and mentally. But think about keeping that Banshee and riding it just a tad slower I also think subconsiously(sp) you want to keep that Banshee and that why you started this thread, hoping someone will give you a good reason to keep yer quad. BenBB
Best of luck STLBill, not much I can add to the other posts...selling your Banshee is one thing, and might be the best solution at the moment, just hope you're still ridin' something... Blue Duece
I just don't have the courage to ride her like she needs to be ridden. Ive followed your posts since you first joined the HQ Bill, im glad your to the point where you can ride, I agree with Meat, I think you should find some nice flat stuff and cruise around, your bike wont mind, go out and watch the younger guys haul ass, then if you sell your bike it wont be because it got the best of you, and some mellow riding will help build the muscles in your back and mentally make you feel better, if fate is after you, you'll get creamed by a bus walking across the street, maybe someone was looking out for you, thats why your here today, back in 1982 i got hit head on going through an intersection and still wince everytime i go through one, but we sometimes have to face our fears and like evil said you owe it to your loved ones to not do stupid shit that can kill you, but unless you just really dont want to ride at all, then sell your bike, but at least go out and putt around and enjoy cruising, i have a great time just putting around on little trails, whenever im by myself riding i just putt its good for your body and mind to get out and relax, but by all means dont leave the HQ, we all enjoy having you here and i think your misfortune is a good reminder to us all that you can get hurt bad.......good luck guy.... fixitrod
I'm going to add this bill. I wrecked a bike that landed me a steel plate and 8 screws. It took me 3 yrs to have full confidence back. I did sell my bike. It was a dirt bike at that time. If it's a sport you love, maybe you can use it as an excuse to get something new... if you just don't like the banshee anymore that is. You'll end up with something else. I'm sure of it. If you don't want to go through the hassel of selling and buying keep what you have. If the family needs the time to heal more than you do, keep the money you get in the bank so you can buy something else when the time comes... That's what I did. oldturtle
I think you might change your mind with a little more time that "she needs to be ridden" in any particular way. And I am sure there are more cautious Banshee riders around here than just me. You can get hurt just as dead on a cushy Preditor. It ain't the ride, it's the rider that causes the problem. I sincerely hope you will reconsider and keep your ride. Then learn to win the war against taking poor risks. Your family can accept this if you can. Have fun. Live it up. Life is short and then we are dead for a very long time. I hope you don't think I am being a smart ass, but only trying to help a friend. THOR1
Hey man I know the feeling. Last year I had a pretty bad wreck on a wakeboard and felt timed as hell after that. My wife and family said that I have to many crazy hobbies and that Im getting to "OLD". Man I look at myself and say, Im only 28! I enjoy Wakeboarding, riding my shee, and grappling. These are the things that I do to get away from everyday reality BS! When I quit I go back and ask what the hell did I quit for? Anyway after all the blah, blah just wanted to agree with meat. THink about keeping it and just putting around a lil. Listen to yourself and self will tell you what to do. ( If that makes sense?) LOL Good luck man. Otis
I've been there too ( I know where your coming from) Street bike accident this past summer(T-boned by a car).. Even after i healed up. and was able to ride again it just wasnt the same.. It always played in the back of my mind... I had to sell her. I guess what i'm saying is...if it's going to always be on your mind while your riding, what fun/safe is that going to be.. I respect your decision to sell her and know how hard it is to have to get rid of it. just my 2 cents..... good luck....
