Loss Of Forward Momentum

Recommended Posts

So I am driving back from a kickass day of riding yesterday...cruising along

in my 97' Z-71 w/120,000 miles...no sign of trouble when all of the sudden it

was like my transmission slipped into neutral. This sucks...so I pull over to the

shoulder...check the tranny fluid...its ok...smells ok...I shut the hood, get back

in and try it from a stop and find that I can cruise along in second gear, but

it won't shift out of second. I also notice that I have no speedometer and

my ABS light is on. This makes me feel pretty good that it might not be

major transmission problem, but just loss of some speed sensor feedback

or something. Anyway, I drive the last 20 miles home at 3500rpm in second

gear, doing about 45. Long story short (too late)...today it is fine :unsure: .

Does anybody know what in the hell happened...I am sure it will happen again

so I would like to fix it now. Thanks.

was you truck all the way in drive? sometimes they can slip out and hit neutral if you didnt get it all the way in. if its not doing it now at all then maybe thats what it was. as for it staying in 2nd gear that seems a little strange. if your speedo didnt work and the abs light came on maybe your trucks computer decided to be stupid for a minute. who knows. id say if it quit tho drive it and see if it does it anymore.
