bansheefreak Posted February 23, 2004 Report Share Posted February 23, 2004 i pretty sure cut gears allow you to shift under hard acceleration .. the gears mesh easier .. thats about all i know about them if that is even right!!! On the override tranny: If you KNOW that you are disciplined enough to make sure that, on the gears that are cut, you do NEVER back off the gas and let the back tires surpass the motor's speed, then I say - go for it. But, if you do happen to let off the gas and that clutch ain't pulled in - well it will fry the shift forks. That's why, usually, 5th and 6th are not cut, so when you are in 5th or 6th, it is OK to drive like normal and let off the gas while in gear and clutch not pulled in - although that's a very "leaning" situation in itself.
