THOR1 Posted February 23, 2004 Author Report Posted February 23, 2004 Sounds good! Im not sure if the hush kit will fit in to the end of the silencer though? Might have to do a lil rigging. Quote
SDD Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I am the only one that I know that has adapted a set of FMF powercore 2 silencers for use with a Toomey Hush Kit. I have made one other set of adapters for InFlames for his powercore silencers. Hopefully this image will work. Here is a link just incase it doesn't work... http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288...703&mode=invite Quote
THOR1 Posted February 23, 2004 Author Report Posted February 23, 2004 Wicked! Man thats cool! Would you b interested in making another? Or could you pass some info. on how you made it? Quote
SDD Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Well heres the deal about the adapters... You do have to modify the silencer core tubes by cutting them shorter by about an inch. Other than that the hush kit mounts to the adapters and they slip inside your silencers. The only reason I did mine like this was the cost. I bought some 3/4" thick aluminum stock and made the end caps out of that. The hush kits are 190 compared to 270 for turbine cores. If your interested I can make a whole setup for you and ship it out... let me know if you want one and I'll get some prices for you. Quote
THOR1 Posted February 24, 2004 Author Report Posted February 24, 2004 yeh Im interested. Theres a hush kit on ebay im bidding on. Did you cut an inch off the actual silencer or the hush pipe adapter? you used the 270 to make the end piece for the adapter? Quote

pimp559 Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 can you post more pics on the hush kit/fmf set up. Thor1 make sure if your getting the hush kit off ebay that it has the spark arrester if you need it. Toomey makes the kit with and with out the spark arrester. Hope I don't outbid you J/K. Quote

Did you cut an inch off the actual silencer or the hush pipe adapter? you used the 270 to make the end piece for the adapter? Make sure you don't get an older version of the hush kit. There are two different types of the old version. One only had a collar on one side of the inlet tubes so only one of the two tubes can come loose. The second one as mentioned did not have a spark arrestor built into it. When you go to mount the hush kit and adapters to the silencers you have to open up the silencers and the tube that has the holes in it needs to be cut down a little (around an inch). The outer portion is left alone other than maybe drilling the holes for the rivits out a little larger for the two screws that hold the hush kit in the silencers. It's pretty straight forward install requiring some high temp RTV and a rubber mallet and a few allen wrenches. If you want to get more info on this email me or AIM me under the user name "sanddiegoduner". Pimp559 if you click the link I posted it should take you to my image station pictures. If anyone is wondering you do get a midrange hesitation in power if your bike is stock. If you advance the timing a few degrees (3-4) and bump up the compression the hesitation goes away. Most importantly is you still get to ride your machine when others are getting tickets and parking their bikes. Quote
