SDD
Only run it if your mods indeed need that much octane other wise your just burning your money away.
SiCkBaNsHeE_990
like what mod would you run race gas with?
MRMOONEY
COMPRESSION, IF YOU DONT HAVE AT LEAST 150 LBS KEEP RUNNING PUMP GAS, OR WASTE YOUR MONEY ON RACE GAS. ALSO JUST TO LET YOU KNOW AV GAS IS ALOT CHEAPER THEN RACE GAS AND IN MY OPPION WORKS JUST AS WELL.
Wassup350
Definitely run it if you have high compression. My friend ran 87 in his 800 with high compression heads and blew it up. He messed up the cylinder wall and the piston.
boonman
You don't need it unless you have a higher compression engine. It will be a waste of money. High octane fuel is designed to withstand high compression and not detonate, or pre-ignite.
Wallrat
Yup, higher compression and also advanced timing will require race gas. He guys, don't you have to run cooler plugs with race gas?
boonman
don't you have to run cooler plugs with race gas? Never heard anything like that before. I have found that the stock heat range has always worked best for me. You definitely don't want to go hotter, but it is always a good idea to watch your plugs carefully. They are a good indicator of how things are running........ Hotter range plugs can lead to and/or provoke detonation and pre-ignition problems... Rescuejeff
I have found by mixing Avgas and super unleaded gas it has a performance style range with a poor mans budget, It tends to run a little cooler, but not that much, but has a the instant response parts you want out of the race gas. I go 50/50 Av to super.
