neilgf
The metal cover your talking about is the Flywheel. To remove you need to take the large nut off the center.Airtools work best! Then use the proper flywheel puller to remove. First use a continuity tester to check the stator as said before! Follow the instructions given by BenB to check the continuity!

boonman
Your stator could be faulty. Also, the TORS system. Are you positive you disconnected the TORS module which is located under the fuel tank on the left side of the bike next to the coil? You can disconnect everything else on the bike and if this isn't disconnected, your at square one. Are you sure your getting fuel? Are the carbs clean? All the connections correct, tight and clean? monty9
i cleaned all the connections and made sure they were tight and i got spark, now i have another problem.the bike starts now but when you give it gas it revs then stays at a high ideal, i mean realy high sounds like the bikes going to explod. any ideas on what would cause this to happen now? ruff_rida69
I think you could have a air leak since it revs hight at idle, crank it and spray some wd-40 or somethin around the reed cages and see if it revs higher, or you could have a bad crank seal but you would have to do a leak down test to see. monty9
ok this is from the last one i posted, it starts ideal is fine, when you hi tthe throttle it revs and then stays that high, i go to turn it off and it stays running till you hit the throttle again then it turns off. boonman
You have an air leak. Either that, or a clogged jet. Are your slides in backwards? Pull the carbs and clean them thoroughly with solvent and compressed air.
BCRacing21
there is wiring that runs to the throttle from the junk stock caps on the carbs. You need to cut the wires and splice them back together and ckeck them with a volt meter and it should start. I had the same problem. monty9
it wont start on its own, if i spray carb and choke cleaner in the carbs it starts right up, then if i rev it it backfires. and then the ideal stays high sometimes after you rev it
