sredish
A month or so ago, my shee was running great, no problems, been that way for a year. Well, all of a sudden, the top end dropped out. WTF? Thought maybe I had an air leak on the intake or something. Did a plug check, white as snow. I was running a 185, and have for 4 months, perfectly. Well, maybe something's different. I threw in a 190, and still bone white. Screw it, threw in a 200. Still pretty white, but a little color. I couldn't figure what the hell happened. I didn't just jet, i troubleshooted quite a bit, with nothing found. I talked to my "bud", a fellow banshee man and racer, who also is the one who led me to the Iridium plugs. I asked him about it, since this all started happening about the time I changed to the plugs. He said, "hey, you need to jet for those plugs". What? Well, I know the iridiums burn much hotter, but evidently 400% hotter. They burn so hot, that they warrant a serious look at the jetting when used. Afterwards I jetted for them, and I went from a 185 to 220, and up on the pilots a few points. Now it runs really great and dialed in perfectly. This may not be weird to some of you, but I've never really heard of jetting specifically due to a set of plugs, but that's the scenario with the Iridium plugs. The reason I'm telling you this, is because I've mentioned these plugs to a few people in a few threads, and I don't know how many people have seen that. However, I don't want people to go run and buy these, go race the next day and blow their piston into 100 pieces. I was lean as hell, luckily I hadn't done much riding, and it was all slow poke riding around my house. Some of you may already know this, and I apologize for being stupid if that's the case. Later fellas, Scott

Wassup350
I have also thought of getting a set of those just to try them out. Thanks for the info, thats all i need is to have to rejet again!!!
sredish
After reading that this morning, it sounds like I don't like them. Actually, I really like running these plugs. I've rode some this morning, and it feels a little "seat of the pants" stronger than it did before. Surely going up that much on the main and on the pilot has brought in some extra uumph. I would highly recommend running these plugs, cold starting is better, idles stronger. Just be ready to play with the jetting some, overall it's worth it. rebelbanshee2
how would the heat of a plug make it leaner? jetting is only air/fuel mix. sounds more like they make already lean jetting more obvious
sredish
how would the heat of a plug make it leaner? jetting is only air/fuel mix. sounds more like they make already lean jetting more obvious needs more fuel to cool the combustion chamber. side effect is a little more power cause of the extra fuel. willow2679
What was the supposed benefit of runnig that plugs why you switch to them?????
sredish
it all started when the temps dropped. the castor 927 seperates at 32 degrees and can smoke like crazy until warmed up in the cold. cold starting was a pain, not too bad, i just like a 2 or 3 kick start. it was getting to like 5 or 6, and it was because of the oil settling at the bottom of the tank. the iridium's hotter spark help burn the oil off of the plug, and helped my cold starting. a friend, banshee racer, and tech suggested the use, and mentioned the difference he noticed when he began using them. so i tried them. XTShee
This may have been part of the reason I melted my top end back around Xmas. A guy in the bike shop recomended these plugs to me, so I thought I would give them a go. Third ride in engine siezed up, never thought it would have anything to do with the plugs though. Come to think of it, the plug actually had bits of the pistion melted in to the top of it. I'll get a pic of it when I get home from work tonight
