2004LEBanshee Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Ok I changed the main jets to 340. I have done this before so I know how to do it. But for the first time I decided to try and change the needle to the 4th from the bottom. I must have messed up some where because it wolln't start and is spueing gas when I start to kick it over. what did I do. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted February 20, 2004 Author Report Posted February 20, 2004 OK got it to run but sounds like a faint pop sound is being made at idle But dosen't back fire when reved?? on one cylinder. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted February 20, 2004 Author Report Posted February 20, 2004 Ok, now I let it idle a while then went on to the road with it, It totally screams now. Plus the popping sound is gone so I think it is ok. Thanks for the speedy replys. Quote
sredish Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Glad we could help. Have you done the wot test to check your main? Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted February 20, 2004 Author Report Posted February 20, 2004 No, I cant do it here and I dont have a truck to haul it anywhere. I usually barrow my dads but he's working. Do you think that I am lean? After i rode it arund i pulled the choke out to the first notch and it kept bogging then kept stalling. Isn't that rich? Quote
sredish Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 340 sounds a little rich to me, your sig says chopped lid. Not that thats bad. If you cand do a good test, then rich is good. I was running 310 main / 27.5 pilot with my fattys, reeds, coolhead, and a chopped lid with a uni. I wouldn't really use the choke as a way to know if its rich or not. What's the highest gear you can get it in? Run it hard some and see if it bogs, if not go up another size to see if it sputters. If so, back off one. Quote

He's got a K&N and +4 ignition advance so he's probably pretty close at 340 if you were good at 310 with the uni foam filter. If it runs pretty good at WOT and then bogs some at WOT then it may be jeted ok. Where you have to be careful with the choke test is that it may not run good and cause a bog off idle or at half throttle with the choke on but when you are at WOT in the top of 5th it may be just right, so don't missinterpret the bog as meaning you were rich on the mains and you weren't unless it bogs when trying to rev it out in a high gear at WOT.
