fixitrod
I currently have a K&N filter strapped to a stock air filter plate. The plate is screwed and siliconed to the box. I've never had one bit of trouble with it, but have been looking at switching to a foam filter. It was suggested by my builder for my type of riding. Anyway, everytime I see pics of the filters, there isn't any kind of frame supporting the filter or a boot to bolt it to the plate. I need to know what foam filter will fit the stock sized plate and support itself. I don't know anyone around me that is running a similar set-up or I'd just see what they have. I've called several shops and they have no idea. Anybody have an idea ?????
locogato11283
i think pro flow makes a kit for them, but i dont know if that will help you any. so you want the foam filter to bolt up to what you have now?? if you have a stock air filter plate couldnt you just buy the foam filter and use some kind of big ass hose clamp to secure it to the plate?? as for reinforcing the foam filter can you use the stock reinforcement deal for the filter? its been so long since i had the stock one i cant hardly remember what it looks like. fixitrod
I don't know what the stock cage even looks like. It was that way when I bought it. Anyway, I've resolved the issue. I bought a used aluminum box and uni filter. That'll take care of the whole issue.
ledofthezep
Sounds like you got'r dun. Got any pics of the new setup? I've always heard of aluminum boxes on shees, but don't know that I've seen any myself.
fixitrod
I went to the stealership to look at some filters. All the banshee filters they had did not have a cage or boot. The 250r filter did. The mouth on that filter was way bigger than the k&n I'm using. The aluminum box uses the 250r filter. For the price I'm getting it, I couldn't pass it up. It was about the same price as a pro-flow kit... actually cheaper with shipping... lol. But, it is used!!
