FoxBansheeRacing
All I have been hearing lately is that the 2-1 carbs kill power. I would like to thank sredish on all the help he has given me, but would also like to hear what some others think about this. What is going to give me better low end and better throttle response between the single 35 and dual 28's(or any other duals)? The main reason I switched to a single carb is because it seemed like it would be easier to jet just one carb, and not have to worry about syncing two. If it will give me more power/torque I would not mind switching back to duals, but would getting some 28's off ebay or having my stockers bored be a better idea? Thanks for any suggestions. Big Blue
Im not a big fan of the single carb, but i have freinds that love it. i use dual 30's on my bike.
Banchetta
I wouldn't run a large carb unless you have some drastic porting....Don't have any experience w/ single carbs....
nater006
From what I know, the single carbs are great for stock to mild engines. If you have a decent port job though, keep the dual carbs. They make a difference in the top end, also. Thats just what I've been hearing though... a&sbanshee
i ran the 34pj's on a almost stock motor witha 65.50mm bore and the hed was shaved just a lil bit. it had inframe fmf pipes and a stator plate and it would run 8.30-8.35 in the 1/8mile asphalt at the drag strip all day long with a 210lb rider so i dont think the dual 34pj's will be to much just wont have very big jets inthem and run them with k&n clamp on's
FoxBansheeRacing
I have stage 3 port work, check my sig for all my other mods. 34's seem big for low end power. I have been seeing alot of Mikuni 28mm flatslides on ebay, are these good carbs? Keep in mind I am looking for all low-mid power, I don't really care about top end. As anyone tried both single and dual setups?

As anyone tried both single and dual setups? Stage 3 means pretty extensive to me. If you have pretty extensive port work, then the smallest I'd go on duals is 30mm. I'd say more like 34mm for pretty extensive port work. For mild/moderate portwork maybe 30's is about right. I think it also depends on personal taste quite a bit. From 30mm to 34mm, I doubt you could go wrong. Also, I don't remember the portwork, I probably wouldn't have recommend a single 35mm if I knew there was portwork. I'd run a single 35 with very mild porting, but thats it. Any more, and its back to duals.
FoxBansheeRacing
I have been talking to another forum member about buying his 28's. So you think I should get something like 32's? I have seen those and 34's on ebay.
yamaha350
from my experience with carbs mikuni's are way easier to tune than keihin's. i used to run 34tm's. i am now switching to packard lectrons.
FoxBansheeRacing
Ok guys, thanks for the help. It looks like I will be taking the single carb off and putting it on ebay. How much do you think I could get for a 35mm keihin power jet carb, graydon intakes, and k&n clamp on, all in good shape? Will my stock intakes work with any bigger carbs or would it be a good idea to get new? Should I be looking for 30-32mm carbs for low end with a stage 3 ported engine? FoxBansheeRacing
Thanks for all the input guys. I think I have everything else figured out except the size of the carb. I have gotten a couple offers to trade the 35 for 28's, but I'm starting to think I need bigger carbs, like around 30-32's. What do you think? I also just found out how damn expensive aftermarket intakes are too, and the only place I have looked was on ebay.
